This Is Why Garth Ennis Wants Michael Fassbender to Be the Next James Bond!

An exciting piece of news that many are still unaware of is that The Boys creator, Garth Ennis, along with artist Rapha Lobosco, is launching a new James Bond: 007 series, more interestingly a comic series coinciding with the character’s 70th anniversary. During an interview with AIPT, the creator shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate about the character. Who should be the next James Bond? He said,

“Probably [Michael] Fassbender. I really liked his “fatal Englishman” character in Inglorious Bastards [sic], you could definitely tell that guy had been up to some unpleasant s–t.”

And people are getting a hint, that he feels very strongly about this particular subject since he echoed his interest once again in a Comicon.com interview as well, stating,

“I think Michael Fassbender. If you think back to the guy he played in Inglorious Bastards [sic] and extrapolate, I reckon he’d be an excellent Bond.”

Undoubtedly, despite a mere five-minute appearance in the Tarantino film, there was no one more fitting to portray Lt. Hicox than Michael Fassbender. The film thus in turn became instrumental in elevating his recognition and career in Hollywood.

Despite prior critical acclaim for films like Hunger Fish Tank, Fassbender’s portrayal in Inglourious Basterds marked his breakthrough to wider audiences. His character, although appearing in only two scenes, crucially alters the Basterds’ plan to assassinate Hitler by complicating their retrieval of Bridget Von Hammersmark. Lt. Hicox’s significance transcends his limited screen time, elevating the film beyond the typical war movie genre, and solidifying Fassbender’s mainstream recognition in the industry.
