Simon Pegg has a remarkably shining career with several acclaimed movies including Hot Fuzz and one of the best zombie comedies, Shaun of the Dead. The actor’s most remarkable role, however, has been Benji Dunn in the Mission Impossible franchise.
Pegg has played Dunn in the franchise since 2006 with the third installment of the blockbuster movie series. But Pegg is unsure of working with his Mission Impossible co-star Tom Cruise after Mission Impossible 8.
Simon Pegg Is Not Sure Of Working With Tom Cruise After Mission Impossible
Simon Pegg, who appeared in Prime Video’s acclaimed superhero show The Boys, thinks he is not sure of working with his Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise again. As per Pegg’s recent interview with The Independent, Cruise may not work on huge projects again which eventually could separate the paths of the actors.
“I don’t know. I love working with Tom, and he’s really good fun to work with but I get the feeling that when Tom goes off and does other things, it’ll be a completely different thing. He has a whole other age to come in his career. He’s a very good actor, a very, very good actor — as we’ve seen in ‘Magnolia’ and ‘Jerry Maguire’… I think when he finally stops jumping off sh*t, he’ll have a third act. And yes, it’d be nice to be a part of that.”
Certainly, Pegg would love to collaborate with Cruise again as both actors have built a professional relationship that as Pegg believes, is worth cheering. But Cruise might not stick to the blockbuster action movies in the future.
What’s Next For Tom Cruise after Mission Impossible?
Cruise’s long-time collaborator and director of Mission Impossible 8, Christopher McQuarrie revealed what is next for Cruise after the end of the franchise. Speaking with Light the Fuse podcast, the director revealed that he’s working on another movie with the actor.
“It’s kind of under wraps. It has neither a fuse nor a fuselage. Oh, that’s not true… It does have some fuselages. It’s something we’ve talked about for a really long time. It’s way outside of what you’re used to seeing Tom do. It’s the kind of stuff I really love. It’s a little bit more in my wheelhouse. And yet it takes everything we’ve learned on this journey, which is making movies more and more about emotion and real emotional experiences.”
McQuarrie has been working with Cruise for 15 years and Cruise’s Mission Impossible send-off is expected to be spectacular. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is scheduled to hit theaters on 21 May 2025.
