Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine will definitely go down as one of the most iconic superhero portrayals in the history of cinema. The Australian actor first took up the mantle of Wolverine in the movie X-Men back in 2000. After successfully portraying the role of our beloved mutant for almost 17 years, the story of Wolverine finally came to an end in 2017 when the character died at the of the movie, Logan.

Like most superhero movies, Logan also only took some inspiration for the storyline from the comics and did not follow the whole plot and this time it turned out to be a great thing as the plot of the comics was allegedly too messed up.
The Wolverine–Old Man Logan Comic Series had a very disturbing storyline
The Old Man Logan Comic series showed an alternate reality where villains like the Abomination, Doctor Doom, and Red Skull have won against the heroes and divided the United States into their territories. Wolverine himself was tricked into killing most of his fellow X-Men in the past by Mysterio and therefore ended up retiring from the superhero life. He lives with his family on a barren plot in California(known as the Hulkland) which is now controlled by the grandchildren of Hulk.
After being unable to pay rent to the Hulk’s grandchildren, Wolverine agrees to deliver a package to another side of the country with a blind Clint Barton. The duo faces many challenges while navigating through enemy territories and when they finally reach their destination, Barton is killed by the Red Skull and Wolverine himself barely manages to escape with the money.
Wolverine vs The Incredible Hulk
After he returns to California, he finds the corpses of his wife and children in his home and is informed by his neighbor that the Hulk’s grandchildren got tired of waiting for him to return and ended up murdering his whole family. Upon learning the truth, Wolverine flies into a fit of rage and ends up murdering all of Hulk’s grandchildren. Eventually, Bruce Banner aka The Incredible Hulk appears before Wolverine and then it is revealed that he lost his sanity a long time ago to Gamma Ray poisoning and ended up having non-consensual incestuous relations with his first cousin, Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk and Wolverine face off in a deadly battle but Wolverine is quickly overpowered by Hulk who goes on to consume him. However, Logan was still not dead and regenerated himself in the Hulk’s stomach and then burst out which ended up killing The Hulk.
It is a great thing that the director of Logan, James Mangold decided against using this storyline in the movie as this could have been too disturbing for many people in the audience.
