Epic Games Store allows players to claim new free games every week and it’s usually one or two. It recently revealed that players would be able to claim 3 titles from February 22-29. The games were in Bethesda’s popular Fallout franchise and these classic titles would have been fun to revisit.
But the storefront has now pulled the original February free game and has replaced it with an alternative that would not be as much fun to play as the previous titles. It can not be said what caused this change of heart but it is surely disappointing for players looking to claim these titles.
Epic Games Store Goes Back on Its Word for Free Titles Next Week
The storefront revealed on February 15 that it will allow anyone with an Epic Games account to claim three Fallout titles starting from February 22 to February 29. These titles were the first two mainline entries in the franchise and Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel.
However, the lineup has now been removed and players are now offered an indie platformer to claim during that period. It is unclear why the planned games were scrapped but this change for Epic Games is a first as something like this has not happened and the storefront has been giving out titles almost ever since the store was launched back in 2018.
It is possible that the advertisement of Fallout titles going free from February 22-February 29 was a mistake and the platformer title was the one originally planned. Moreover, these three titles that are now scrapped have previously been available to claim for free on the storefront and this realization may have resulted in it being taken down from offering.
The original game in the popular role-playing franchise Super Meat Boy Forever is also available for free on Prime Gaming so it could be one of the reasons as well but nothing can be said for certain until Epic Games comments on this rare and usual change.
Meet Super Meat Boy Sequel, the Freebie for the Coming Week
Super Meat Boy Forever will now be available for players to claim from February 22-February 29 in the store. The game is an indie platformer developed by Team Meat and is the sequel to the massively popular Super Meat Boy. The game is praised for its humor and challenges and the game requires players to be smart and good at platforming if they want to beat it.
The game is an auto-runner and the characters keep on running the levels are hard so players need to be good to complete them. The levels are short so they might need not waste hours but dying a few times is complimentary with the easy levels. The game is endlessly repayable and has nearly 6,000 level components that players can mix and match for a brand-new experience.
The game is loved by many but has received mixed reactions as it falls short of what Super Meat Boy achieved but is still a game worth trying out. Are you going to claim the indie platformer title next week? Let us know in the comments below.
