Lego Fortnite showed a lot of promise when it launched. It was essentially the best way of experiencing Lego’s unique world within the popular existing world of Fortnite, without players having to pay an additional fee to enjoy Lego’s mechanics.

Unfortunately, recent price bumps in Lego Fortnite’s different kits and related cosmetics have forced users to take a big step. When a Redditor protested against this, asking players to simply boycott the game, their post was taken down. Even though the community was largely in favor of this.

For a mode with so much potential, this seems like a pretty bad move.

Usually, in-game cosmetics in Fortnite don’t really burn a hole in your pocket unless you’re someone who wants the premium battle pass along with all the rewards unlocked on day one. At best, you’ll pay between 10 to 20 USD for something, and use it across a wide spectrum of game modes in Fortnite.

Unfortunately, Lego Fortnite is where Epic decided to change this philosophy. Exclusive to the game mode, there are certain kits (and related cosmetics) you can purchase that give you a boost in the game. It lets you be a bit more creative, and make the most of your open-world experience in the game.

In a recent post on Reddit, that has since been deleted, user MrSponge_ shared with the community a glimpse of how obnoxious Lego Fortnite’s current pricing models are. For instance, a little kit for the Lego mode costs about $18, which doesn’t really seem worthy of many players’ money. At least, that’s how the community responded to this.

Is this the downfall of Lego Fortnite?

No point in fancy updates if players choose to boycott the mode entirely.

Not too long ago, Lego Fortnite saw an update that could potentially change the way players interacted with the mode altogether. This introduction brought in new ways of exploring the Lego island, and all the characters that are available to players in-game.

This was a subtle hint from Epic that the mode hasn’t really been doing too well, considering how Lego Fortnite is a pretty recent addition to the game. Unfortunately, even though this update seems promising, the prices simply aren’t.

Why would players pay for something so expensive, when they could invest in other skins and related cosmetic items that can be used in battle royale and other modes? Player’s comments on the post also refer to an anxious doubt around the possibility of Epic adding these kits to battle passes at some point.
