In an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the host was in conversation with WWE legend Hulk Hogan, where they were talking about his appearance in Rocky III. Rogan expressed his astonishment as he watched the Rambo star being manhandled by the pro wrestler in the film. He said that although that scene gave a sneak peek at what the orchestrated show pro wrestlers put for the audience, the physical aspect is as real as it gets. He also praised just how much Stallone was willing to go through to put on a fight, saying:

“[That scene] sort of let everybody know, maybe one of the first ever windows behind the scenes where you could see what the top fight pro wrestlers actually do. You can call it fake, but there’s nothing fake happening, like, it’s just orchestrated, or at least, there’s a predetermined outcome. But the fu*king physicality, it’s bananas.”

Here, Hogan also opened up about this exact scene, where during the shoot, he managed to badly injure Stallone’s collarbone by mistake.

The greatness that Stallone brought to the era of action in cinema cannot be expressed in words, only experienced through his films. Known for creating immortal action franchises like the Rocky and Rambo series, the star has a firm grasp on how to use action and violence with perfect execution.

The way that he used unbridled violence and action was commendable as every film or franchise that he made depicted each of these topics in varying proportions. While Rocky was centered towards action that was necessary to become better than you were before, Rambo was pure visceral carnage. The perfect balance and application of these terms in his films is what made him an action genius.
