Alaqua Cox entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Maya Lopez in the Disney+ series Hawkeye (2021). Her portrayal of Echo, the deaf commander of the tracksuit mafia, earned plenty of rave reviews, particularly because of her changing dynamics with Kingpin.
In Hawkeye, Maya mostly chased Jeremy Renner’s character and Kate Bishop. However, in her own spin-off series – which premiered on Disney+ early in January – the titular character’s origin story and her connections to the world of Daredevil are explored. With Kingpin expected to attempt to run for New York’s mayor, Echo paves the way for Maya to potentially feature in Daredevil: Born Again.
This would also open doors for a potential link-up with Jon Bernthal. However, Cox has different ideas.

Alaqua Cox Could Feature in Jon Bernthal’s Daredevil: Born Again
Jon Bernthal led The Punisher as Frank Castle, a Marine veteran turned vigilante who uncovers a conspiracy that runs deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. After enjoying great success on Netflix, the Defenders saga has moved to Disney+ after Marvel Studios seemingly made it canon to the MCU.
As a result, Bernthal is also set to enter the franchise with Daredevil: Born Again. When shedding light on her character’s future, Alaqua Cox also hinted that fans may see Echo in the upcoming drama. She told Cinemabland (via ASL interpreter):
“I can see Maya appearing in more Daredevil stuff for sure. And, maybe the new Avengers is something I would like to think about. That would be awesome to see that happen. So, fingers crossed.”
Should Marvel bosses decide to add Echo to the much-awaited series, Cox would get to link up with gritty street-level superheroes like Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Punisher (Bernthal). However, the actor has set her eyes on other ambitious targets.

Alaqua Cox Names the MCU Character With Whom She Wants to Collaborate
The Marvels teased the idea of a new Avengers team after bringing Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop together at the very end. Accordingly, Cox admitted she’s open to the idea of being part of a new Avengers team.
Moreover, when asked what MCU character would she like to work with, the 26-year-old said:
“The first person that comes to mind is WandaVision or Scarlet Witch. I’d love to see her.”
With Elizabeth Olsen’s Queen of Chaos seemingly dead after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it’s unlikely Cox will get her wish. However, never say never in the world of countless timelines.
