At the recent The Game Awards, Bandai Namco released the official trailer for the brand new entry in the 3D fighting game series, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero video game. It was at this event that the game’s producer Jun Furutani sat down with IGN to answer some of the many questions fans have about the game.
During the same, the producer shared how he drew inspiration for the video game by “observing how players in Dragon Ball FighterZ’s esports scene enjoyed recreating iconic battles from the anime.” This helped him ensure that the gamers get to play in an identical experience in his upcoming game. He further said:
“Sparking! Zero is different than [Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot]. FighterZ was created with esports intentions with 2D fighting. Kakarot was about experiencing the story. Xenoverse [had players] go in as an avatar into the world.”
Continuing, Furutani then shared what the main focus of the super anticipated game lies.
“The focus here is to push the limits of how much a player can completely immerse themselves into the world,” Furutani shared, “and how intensely we can make that [happen].”
From the looks of it, it seems that the soon-to-be-released Sparking! Zero video game will bring in more treats for the gamers than expected!

New Things Fans Can Experience With Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
Among all the things that he talked about during the trailer release of the video game, another thing that Jun Furutani gushed about was the evolved gameplay experience that the upcoming game, which will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, will offer.
“What was interesting to see with [Sparking! Zero] was the effect on the environment. When Goku is charging his ki, you have a little bit of wind picking up,” Furutani said while pantomiming Goku’s zenkai boost.
Giving another example, he further explained what kind of a game engine Sparking! Zero holds and how captivating the graphics of the video game will be. He said:
“When someone crashes through a boulder or a building [after an attack] it’s happening in real time. We’ll be using Unreal Engine 5, so the graphics are just that more real and immersive.”
Now that will be a totally rocking gaming experience for sure!
