The Game Awards is just a day away and ahead of this gaming spectacle, there have been significant leaks and rumors about what to expect. Despite the early launch of the GTA 6 trailer taking the main focus at the start of this week, many fans will now be turning their attention to the tenth-anniversary award show, which promises to be bigger and better than ever.

As with many game events, there is an increased level of excitement about what announcements and reveals fans can look forward to seeing and this year is no different. Fans only have to look at social media to see the various speculation which is circulating, and some of this is to be believed more than others.

What Rumors Are There Regarding The Game Awards?

The Tenth Anniversary of the awards ceremony promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

Looking at the social media site X, there has been various speculation from fans on games such as Dishonored 3and even a game based on the Marvel character ‘Blade’. Whilst there is a succession of Marvel games with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game, it remains to be seen whether there is any truth to this.

It appears that you can’t open a page on the internet without coming across a rumor regarding the upcoming awards ceremony, and indeed there is talk of God of War DLC and a new entry to the Virtua Fighter franchise.

“The game awards might be a classic this year rumours of a god of War DLC aswell maybe even spider man 2 dlc teased with gta 6 aswell gonna be something to behold” – @LZBloxham

“I hope the rumours are true and we see a trailer for the Elden Ring DLC soon! Maybe even during the game awards show! I’d love to see the history between Miquella and Malenia.” – @CalcifersCastle

In addition to the speculation already mentioned, EA is rumoured to be announcing a new EA Exclusive this month, which would make sense for it to coincide with The Game Awards.

Some companies have responded to the rumors being circulated everywhere with Splash Damage posting in regards to the upcoming Transformers game. Speaking about Transformers: Reactivate, the developers confirmed that they won’t be revealing any details of the game this year, and that fans should stay tuned for ‘epic developments in 2024’.

With the sheer volume of rumors ahead of The Game Awards tomorrow, it can be seen to be getting quite out of hand and as mentioned earlier, this has led to companies addressing their upcoming games. However, this shouldn’t detract from the ceremony itself, which is the highlight for many in the industry and showcases some exceptional talent.

From its early days as the Spike Video Game Awards, this ceremony dedicated to the best that the video game industry has to offer has grown in stature year after year. At the helm is Geoff Keighley, who has ensured that the event is inclusive to all in the industry and that is an enjoyable experience that gets better with each passing year.

The Game Awards
A sequel to 2016’s Dishonored 2 is one of the current rumors surrounding The Game Awards.

The ceremony has 31 categories with various nominees in each and no doubt many companies would love to see their titles pick up some distinction, but it is no surprise to anyone that ‘Game of the Year’ is the main focus. The selection of nominees in this category may not come as a surprise to many fans, but it remains to be seen who will lift that title.

With The Game Awards just over 24 hours away, it is understandable that excitement is high and whilst there are numerous rumors and speculation everywhere you turn, it remains to be seen what is truth or fiction. What is certain, is that despite all the categories and awards that are up for grabs, fans are already looking forward to what’s coming in the near future and what announcements lie in store.
