It appears that you can’t open a page on the internet without coming across a rumor regarding the upcoming awards ceremony, and indeed there is talk of God of War DLC and a new entry to the Virtua Fighter franchise.

In addition to the speculation already mentioned, EA is rumoured to be announcing a new EA Exclusive this month, which would make sense for it to coincide with The Game Awards.

Some companies have responded to the rumors being circulated everywhere with Splash Damage posting in regards to the upcoming Transformers game. Speaking about Transformers: Reactivate, the developers confirmed that they won’t be revealing any details of the game this year, and that fans should stay tuned for ‘epic developments in 2024’.

With the sheer volume of rumors ahead of The Game Awards tomorrow, it can be seen to be getting quite out of hand and as mentioned earlier, this has led to companies addressing their upcoming games. However, this shouldn’t detract from the ceremony itself, which is the highlight for many in the industry and showcases some exceptional talent.

From its early days as the Spike Video Game Awards, this ceremony dedicated to the best that the video game industry has to offer has grown in stature year after year. At the helm is Geoff Keighley, who has ensured that the event is inclusive to all in the industry and that is an enjoyable experience that gets better with each passing year.

The Game Awards
A sequel to 2016’s Dishonored 2 is one of the current rumors surrounding The Game Awards.

The ceremony has 31 categories with various nominees in each and no doubt many companies would love to see their titles pick up some distinction, but it is no surprise to anyone that ‘Game of the Year’ is the main focus. The selection of nominees in this category may not come as a surprise to many fans, but it remains to be seen who will lift that title.
