Helldivers 2 recently received its brand-new Cutting Edge Premium Warbond, which brought new weapons, armor, emotes, boosters, capes, and more. This helps players get an advantage against the Terminids and Automatons in combat, but it seems like a new enemy has landed.
Fans have been awaiting the arrival of the new faction in Helldivers 2, including the original game’s Illuminate faction, and their wishes might have been granted. Some players have come across a few incidents in the game, and they think the long-awaited Illuminate faction is already here.
Players Think Illuminate Faction is Already in Helldivers 2
There have been rumors of several new enemy factions joining Helldivers 2, but players have been wanting to hear about Illuminate. A datamine last month suggested that the original game’s Illuminate faction is coming to the game with the next update, and players think the faction is here.
A player, u/Dye335, took to the r/Helldivers subreddit and stated, “The Illuminate is already here.”
They explained that while playing a recent mission, they were hit with something that seemingly didn’t come from the bugs or automatons. They said that while playing on Draupnir to complete the personal order killing devastators, they were heading towards an objective and were hit.
The player added that they were hit with a “vibrant blue laser shot” that resembled a sniper round, and they felt like they were hit from a high angle. They said there was no enemy around; no combat was happening, but they were hit just out of nowhere. They mentioned that despite having heavy armor on, they dealt damage and “knocked down 60~% HP” and “rag-dolled” a foot backward.
The player further said that it must have been an Illuminate Sniper that must have shot them and would have teleported immediately after firing the shot at them. They asked the fellow “brothers and sisters of democracy” to stay safe and added that the faction might soon return to Helldivers 2.
Fans Are Divided Over Illuminate Being in the Game
The player confirmed that there were no enemies or teammates around them at the time they were hit with the alleged blue laser, but understandably, fans are skeptical about the player’s claims and said that the faction is not in the game and the player is just “hallucinations,” adding that they are not coming to the game “anymore forever.”
However, some players too shared some instances where they experienced something like the player. One player said that they saw a red dot on the map pulsing and thought a cloaked enemy was coming to attack, but it never happened. They said the dot passed them, but they did not see anything, and it soon changed direction and went away.
This means that something is happening out there, and probably it’s the developers dropping in the new enemies and testing them. Moreover, developers have been trying out different things with surprise drops, so that’s a possibility.
