While some have been praising it for its unpredictableness and slow burn, others seem to find faults in its hollow plot and shallow main character. While praise and likeability are largely subjective, the real question is whether Fassbender would return for a sequel of the movie, for the graphic novel is a pretty lengthy series with enough material to work with.

Michael Fassbender is no doubt a wonderful actor and he has proved that again in The Killer. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, it follows the story of a nameless ruthless assassin, who turns out to be an epic bore, quite literally.

A hitman, so ordinary and unnoticeable that he would blend into the surroundings even if covered with blood. However, Fassbender’s portrayal and David Fincher‘s extraordinary storytelling are not one for those who cannot endure boredom. A very slow burn, it meticulously follows the Killer trying to save a job gone wrong.

While the critics and audiences have been lauding the movie with mixed reviews, the praise so far has been outweighing the criticism. So the question that naturally arises is would there be a sequel? Or would Fassbender be returning for a sequel if it takes place?

The graphic novel has a pretty lengthy material, providing enough to work with. Furthermore, Fassbender is being praised for his exemplary portrayal. But despite the immense praise and a plethora of source material, there have been no announcements of a sequel so far.

For now, it does not seem that the X-Men star will be starring in Killer 2, for there have been no plans or even hints of a sequel in the near future (via Esquire). So for those wanting a sequel to Fincher’s first comic-book adaptation, guess they’ll have to wait some more.

Not only fans but even critics have been joining in to praise Michale Fassbender’s terrific performance in David Fincher’s The Killer. Now streaming on Netflix, the movie yet again shows how much of an exceptional actor he is.

Fassbender maintains the same amount of distance from his audience with his portrayal as his on-screen nameless assassin maintains with his world. His cold-hearted and eerie yet at the same time dull portrayal of a serial killer is enough to be called an acting masterclass.

As ordinary as his character is in the movie, Fassbender is just as extraordinary for the audience to see. Unlike the usual assassin thrillers, Fincher’s The Killer is exceptionally unconventional and Fassbender’s portrayal is no exception in its uniqueness.

The Killer can be streamed on Netflix.
