Patrick Stewart has been a memorable part of the cinema for much of the last and current century, and he has continued to amaze his fans and audiences with his remarkable acting talent. After being part of the two biggest franchises in the cinema world, Star Trek and X-Men, he debuted in the MCU as Professor Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While it was a disappointing cameo, the actor recently teased his appearance in future MCU movies, particularly Deadpool 3. However, he also got candid about his health problems in the last few years, which although not confirmed, might turn out to be a potential roadblock for his future as Professor X.
Patrick Stewart Gets Candid About Returning To The MCU
To imagine the world of X-Men without Sir Patrick Stewart is almost impossible now, for there has been no other actor who has had such a significant impact on the mythos as him. After his debut in the MCU as another variant of Professor Charles Xavier, Marvel fans want the actor to return to the cinematic universe in a much better fashion than his disappointing cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
After the news of his X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman making his MCU appearance in Deadpool 3, fans have been anticipating that even Stewart might get to come back or have a cameo in the highly anticipated superhero flick. And while promoting his memoir Making It So with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Hollywood legend confirmed there have been talks regarding the same.
“It has come up, there’s been a process.”
Even last year he had stated to ComicBook.com that he has been told to stand by. However, this time the actor appeared somewhat not sure for his health problems might potentially limit or hinder his chances of returning as Xavier in the MCU.
Patrick Stewart’s Health Issues Might Limit Or Ruin His MCU Return
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets ready to have the X-Men debut in its mythos, Marvel fans would love to have Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X have another appearance or cameo that remains true to the legacy he has thus far created.
However, his return to the universe in any other way than a cameo seems unlikely so far for recently on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor also revealed his health struggles in the last few years. Although the actor is sure Charles Xavier is still around, his Deadpool 3 potential appearance might be hindered by his health issues.
“The last 2-3 years have been so difficult with both the labor problems and the health problems, COVID, you know…”
He even added how the last few years have been challenging due to the production process even while shooting for Doctor Strange 2 the actor had to shoot all his scenes alone which understandably is a huge roadblock for a lot of actors.
Furthermore, while discussing his return to the stage and theatrics, Stewart stated how the main issue with all of this is stamina, which yet again hints that his MCU return in Deadpool 3 might turn out to be an unfulfilled dream.
Deadpool 3 will be released by July 26, 2024.
