Proving her skills in television as well as the big screen, Anya Taylor-Joy found her way to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two after showcasing her full potential in the chess-addiction drama The Queen’s Gambit. But while we discuss fans’ favorite work of the actress, Taylor-Joy revealed a few films that she enjoys in her free time.
While most of her options looked brilliant, one film that stood out was Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise’s 1994 gothic drama Interview with the Vampire. Expressing her affection towards the film during different interviews, Anya Taylor-Joy even mentioned using the Interview with the Vampire aesthetic in her winter make-up look.
Anya Taylor-Joy is a Big Fan of Interview with the Vampire
Starting her career in 2014, Anya Taylor-Joy witnessed an outstanding growth in her popularity within one decade. Beginning by starring in a tiny role in Vampire Academy, the actress gradually made her way into Robert Eggers’ debut feature, The Witch, within a year of her inception. Proving her skills on both television and the big screen, Taylor-Joy gradually ventured into Denis Villeneuve’s magnum opus Dune: Part Two.
But while Anya Taylor-Joy is personally making great advances in her career, the actress claimed to find comfort in a rather underrated movie. Opening up about her go-to comfort films, during a 2022 interview with Letterboxd, Taylor-Joy noted Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise’s underrated 1994 vampire movie as one of her favorites. Adding Interview with the Vampire to her list, alongside the likes of Almost Famous and Arrival, the actress seemingly stunned her fans.
“I’ll talk about the films that I’ve been leaning on recently. Almost Famous, always. I just love that film… I’ll put on Arrival if I’m feeling very depressed about the state of the world. I love that film… I’d forgotten how amazing Interview with the Vampire is.”
Pointing out how deeply she adores Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise’s 1994 vampire movie, Anya Taylor-Joy mentioned holding the film close to her heart.
Brad Pitt’s 1994 Movie Serves the Actress’ Make-up Aesthetic
Although Brad Pitt admitted struggling hard while filming his 1994 movie alongside Tom Cruise, in London, at least the actor found a true fan in Anya Taylor-Joy. Speaking with Letterboxd, the actress not only noted Interview with the Vampire as her favorite movie but also revealed the particular aspects that she enjoyed the most.
“It’s so great. It’s so campy. It’s so fabulous. The manicures on Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are just out of this world.”
Thank God Brad Pitt didn’t give up on Interview with the Vampire, as he revealed during his interview with EW, otherwise, Anya Taylor-Joy would’ve never found her makeup aesthetic ideas. Yes, you heard it right. Ahead of informing the world about her penchant for the 1994 movie, Taylor-Joy told Vogue UK in 2020 how she derives her make-up aesthetic from the film.
“Two things I can do make-up wise is apply both mascara and lipstick well… I have got a bit of an Interview with the Vampire aesthetic, and so as soon as it gets dark outside I love long, straight blonde hair and dark purple lips.”
Now that’s like the ultimate fangirl effect. Not only does Anya Taylor-Joy enjoys watching Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise‘s underrated movie, but she also uses that very dark and vampire-like aesthetic in her make-up look. So, the next time you spot the actress, particularly in winter, you’ll know that’s the Interview with the Vampire look, that she’s carrying flawlessly.
