The Marvels Almost Bid Adieu to Captain Marvel

Directed by Nia Dacosta, The Marvels was released on November 10, 2023. The Action-Adventure movie features some prominent actors like Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Park Seo-joon as Prince Yan, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, and many others. However, something interesting recently spilled from Zawe Ashton regarding the ending of this movie.

Ashton mentioned an alternate ending where the plan was to show Larson and Ashton dying together at the end of the movie. A climax was described where both Larson and her were to combust together in space after their fight. Sounds really tragic, but typical of the MCU.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Zawe Ashton said:

“There was another ending that we did film where Brie and myself are kind of in space still having it out, and they kind of combust together, which was really amazing. And that was just a day on wires hanging out with Brie, which is surreal and fun. But yeah, there were a few different plans, I think.”

However, good to know they didn’t go ahead with this plan. MCU fans might not have taken Captain Marvel pulling an Iron Man too well.

The Ending of The Marvels Gives a Look into the MCU’s Future

It is always expected from Marvel to hint a bit about future events through all its shows and movies. The same goes with The Marvels as well. The mid-credits scene and the ending say some precious things about the future course of events.

To start, the ending clearly shows Captain Marvel finally returning to the Earth for the long term. Next, The Marvels has proven that Captain Marvel has become more powerful than before, thereby becoming capable of interacting with other terrestrial heroes.

Also, through this movie, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty might get its plot as the former has shown how different realities hamper each other at a dangerous level. Also, Nick Fury has returned to Earth with his crew which consists of both human beings and aliens. This may hint at something related to Captain America: Brave New World.
