Warning: Major The Marvels Spoilers Ahead!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most recent film The Marvels may have been received with a lot of mixed reviews, controversies, and backlash, but the movie did leave behind some loose ends for fans as well, like Monica Rambeau getting stuck in the X-Men Universe. And tying up these loose ends together has led to the birth of numerous possible fan theories that might help figure out what might happen next.
Among these theories is one that connects The Marvels‘ ending directly to Doctor Strange 3 as it brings forward the possibility of an epic team-up of three major A-listers in the next Doctor Strange installment: Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Charlize Theron’s Clea Strange, and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
How The Marvels‘ Ending Might Lead To An Epic Superhero Team-Up
It is no news that Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange, Charlize Theron’s Clea Strange, and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel are three of the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So their team-up to save the universe would indeed be epic. Here’s how and why:
The ending of The Marvels saw the Quantum Bands open a portal to the X-Men universe, leading to Monica Rambeau getting stuck in it. Since Rambeau is not from the universe that she gets stuck in, this will end up causing an incursion the same way Doctor Strange caused an incursion in Doctor Strange 2‘s post-credits scene.
So now, since Monica Rambeau’s landing in an alternate universe causes an Incursion event, it means that the Earth-616 universe is in danger of being destroyed. Thus, both Rambeau and the earth need saving.
To do that, Brie Larson‘s Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel could be shown seeking out Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Stephen Strange’s help since the sorcerer is pretty much aware of how to handle the multiverse problems.
Furthermore, Charlize Theron‘s Clea Strange is evidently stronger and more powerful than Stephen Strange ever was and can be. So, she too can prove to be a major aide if Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel seek out her help as well.
Thus, this band of A-listers cum three of the strongest superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could end up teaming in Doctor Strange 3 to save both Monica Rambeau as well as the Earth-616 universe.
Kang The Conqueror Might Be Behind These Incursions
Another crazy theory birthed from The Marvels is that Kang the Conqueror could have played a major hand behind all these incursions taking place. And as crazy as this theory sounds, it has some valid proof backing it up as well.
In the recently released movie, Monica Rambeau calls Ms. Marvel’s bands, “Quantum”. This brings about the question: who has been connected to the Quantum Realm in the MCU so far? The answer is simple: Scott Lang, Cassie Lang, Hope van Dyne, Janet van Dyne, Hank Pym, and… well, Kang.
Since neither the Langs nor the van Dynes nor Pym could have made the bands, the only remaining option is Kang. What further supports this theory is that these bands cause incursions, which are probably the most perfect way to destroy a universe.
Thus, it is actually possible that Kang the Conqueror could have indeed made the Quantum Bands because his ultimate target is to destroy universes, and all the supporting evidence points to him and him only.
Furthermore, this also ends up indirectly supporting the theory about the Earth-616 universe being in danger of getting destroyed, thus, seeking the support and team-up of three of the strongest superheroes in the entire universe to save it: Clea Strange, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange.
