Before he was fired from Marvel Studios, the post and mid-credit scenes in MCU films were bringing us one step closer to Kang. With Robert Downey Jr. replacing Kang with Doctor Doom, fans will surely miss out on one particular hero who would have led the Avengers in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

People Have Forgotten About Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi

In 2021, Simu Liu portrayed the lead role of Shang-Chi alongside Awkwafina in the iconic film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film received overwhelming success and people waited desperately for any news of a sequel.

With Iron Man dead, there were many theories that Shang-Chi would become the new team leader of the Avengers whenever they team up. Fans had already accepted Shang-Chi as a leader in their hearts.

Well, a recent report by Inverse confirmed that before Jonathan Majors’ exit from the MCU, Simu Liu was supposed to be the team leader of the Avengers in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

However, with Majors’ exit, the whole Kang storyline had to be scrapped. The return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU (as Doctor Doom) created chaos since the storylines and post-credit scenes did not exactly match up.

This might potentially result in Shang-Chi getting just a little bit sidetracked when the Avengers assemble to fight Doctor Doom. Speaking of post-credit scenes, fans spotted an iconic detail in Shang-Chi and the Lenegd of the Ten Rings that would have been a call to Jonathan Majors’ Kang.

The Ten Rings Were Calling Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror

After the battle was over, a post-credit scene was showcased in which Liu and Awkwafina follow Benedict Wong’s Wong into the Sanctum Sanctorum. Here, we see Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner via a holograph.

Well, fans took to their social media accounts on X to talk about how that signal was meant for Kang the Conqueror.

Although we would love to see Simu Liu return to the role of Shang-Chi in the near future, no such confirmations have been made about the character as of now.

Upon its release, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings received a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDB and a whopping 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The iconic film is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
