The Helldivers 2 community’s efforts have finally paid off as the Terminid Supercolony on the Meridia planet is finally destroyed after players spent hours injecting Dark Fluid into the planet’s core. Super Earth has announced that the planet is gone, leaving a “beautiful black hole” in its place, however, it seems like this black hole has swallowed more than just Meridia.

A Helldivers 2 player has done enough math to prove that the new black hole seems to be bigger than it was expected to be. As the game has stated that everything within several billion kilometers was sucked into the black hole, it can be concluded that it has consumed the “entirety of its stellar system,” which includes every planet and star in that range. This proves that the newly formed black hole isn’t the result of consuming just Meridia, but also many more planets and stars.

A Reddit user named Total_Shine_4619 has shared a post on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit claiming that the newly formed black hole after the destruction of Meridia has consumed many planets and stars, hence making it bigger than it was expected to be. Players were told that Meridia would get destroyed due to implosion after they injected Dark Fluid into the planet’s core. The Terminid Supercolony that was residing on it is gone, but the black hole may have been causing more damage than expected.

After the completion of this Major Order, players were told that every Terminid spore within several billion kilometers is getting drawn into it, but that means planets and stars would also get sucked into it. To put things into perspective, the distance between Earth and the Sun is roughly 150 million kilometers/93 million miles or 1 AU (Astronomical Unit), and the distance between Pluto and the Sun is approximately 49 AU, so several billion kilometers means it lies in the range of 10-100 AU.

This basically means that the black hole is bigger than it should be and every planet and star in that range is currently getting pulled to it. The player took things to the next level by calculating the between the Super Destroyer and Black Hole.

This event may have punched a hole in space-time

Some experts may argue that it is not a black hole but a singularity, however, let’s call it a black hole to prevent things from getting complex. The destruction of Meridia may have slowed down Terminids but there will be consequences and it may come in the form of a new faction called the Illuminate. It’s becoming increasingly apparent that the Illuminate are on their way and players believe that this black hole will serve as a portal/gate for them to invade Super Earth.

These are just speculations but Helldivers should definitely prepare themselves for a new kind of threat. Players have been waiting for Illuminate’s arrival for a while now, especially after a Warp Gate was discovered in the game files. Arrowhead has big plans for the game and in the coming weeks, players should expect to see some new gear, weapons, and Stratagems.

Helldivers 2 is available on Windows and PlayStation 5.
