The French legal drama enjoyed a remarkable run during the awards season this year. From winning the Palme d’Or to the British Film Awards (BAFTAs), Golden Globes, and now the Oscars, Anatomy of a Fall has generated quite a stir.

The film was nominated in five different categories at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture. However, the duo won the prestigious Oscar statuette for Best Original Screenplay after edging past the Bradley Cooper-starrer Maestro and David Hemingson for The Holdovers, among others.

Justine Triet was also nominated for Best Director this year, alongside Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, and others. Sandra Hüller, the protagonist of this drama, was also nominated for Best Actress.

The film has put Triet and Harrari on Hollywood’s radar, apparently. Marie-Ange Luciani, the co-producer of the film, spilled the beans to RTL about the interest they have garnered so quickly.

During the red carpet, the duo confirmed that Steven Spielberg was someone who wanted to work with them. They elaborated that Spielberg was seated next to Harrari at the Oscars lunch, and they spoke for an hour, wading into the nitty-gritty of what he liked about the film. He then asked the duo to write a script for him.

“Steven Spielberg was crazy, Arthur ended up next to him at the table at the Oscars lunch, and they talked for an hour. It turns out he wanted us to meet, and he ordered us a script, it’s the most absurd thing we’ve ever experienced. What he liked about the film was the very popular side, it was a nice compliment for us obviously,” (via World of Reel).

Justine Triet has quickly become one of the most sought-after directors. She confirmed that she had been offered to take the reins on the adaptation of Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel Monica. Two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will be playing the titular role. However, Triet has not made up her mind about it just yet.

What is Anatomy of a Fall about?

The film tells the story of Sandra Voyter, a German writer who lives with her husband and their visually impaired son. Things quickly take a dark turn when Voyter’s husband falls to his death, and she is the prime suspect in his murder.
