Batman #139 kicked off a fresh storyline arc, Mindbomb. And now, later this year, Batman #140 will continue the chaos. This arc, as the makers have promised will feature a monumental clash between Batman and his arch-nemesis The Joker. In fact, as per the latest reports, the publisher is claiming it to be “the most brutal fight” in the history of their tumultuous relationship.

After the Gotham War, Batman finds himself in complete isolation from his family while he grapples with his alter ego, The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. And amidst it all, The Joker resurfaces to confront the caped crusader. The preview tantalizingly hints at a riveting spectacle: “It’s Batman versus The Joker in their most brutal fight of all time.”

But the presence of Batman’s alter ego Batman of Zur-En-Arrh adds an intriguing layer of complexity to this impending showdown.

Deriving the inspiration from 1958’s Batman #113 Batman – The Superman of Planet X, the alter-ego hails from a planet named Zur-En-Arrh, possessing access to its own Batcave, which is distinct from Batman’s iconic sanctuary.
