Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 released the Battle Pass for the new season, featuring Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead as a playable skin. However, the lackluster voiceover for the skin and not having any reference to the show have left fans miffed.
When the collaboration with The Walking Dead was announced, Modern Warfare 3 fans had been expecting something akin to the Nicki Minaj bundle where the singer had lent her voice to the in-game dialogues.
Fans were left disappointed when Rick Grimes’s skin was not given the same treatment.
Rick Grimes’ Voice Actor Slammed by Fans
Fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes or maybe even some references to the show. Fans were hoping to get Rick’s gritty lines as a voiceover in the game. But, the voice packs that the Rick Grimes skin comes with have been far from satisfactory.
Most of the excitement regarding the new skin had been the voice of Rick Grimes and his gritty dialogues. With not a single reference to the show, the skin has been a massive disappointment to the fans.
The other character that has been released as a skin is Michonne, although it has taken a backseat in the light of the controversy surrounding Rick Grimes’ skin. Fans took to social forums saying,
This is the thing I was most excited about for the Rick skin. Having his gritty voice lines in the game and then we get this sh*t.
Yet another user continued the pouring of hatred for the new skin saying,
Honestly, it makes me not even wanna use him. That’s embarrassing.
Call of Duty Collaboration With the Walking Dead off to a Rocky Start
It is quite understandable that fans are outraged regarding this cheap dissection of their beloved character. Many fans have taken to community forums to voice their strong displeasure with the skin for which people have to spend actual money.
Battle Pass is the exclusive reward pass that players get to buy to enjoy lucrative skins and effects. However, the Season 2 Battle Pass featuring Michonne and Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead has caused a massive uproar amongst fans.
Quite understandably fans are wondering why would the developers give out such a cheap knockoff of a skin that doesn’t even resemble the beloved character in any way apart from looking like him. One of the main attractions of the collaboration was players getting to hear Andrew Lincoln’s rough and tough voice as Rick.
But with the subpar voice acting and poor fan response, it remains to be seen which direction the developers go within this collaboration. Whether the lazy voice acting will be fixed in future updates remains to be seen. However, fans are upset and are likely going to demand the developers release some sort of patch to fix this horrible monstrosity.
