The Oscars 2024 just happened, and we are still reeling from its after-effects. Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer reigned as the supreme champion, with seven wins out of thirteen nominations. Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy, and Robert Downey Jr. all took home awards for their part in the movie, and the internet has been buzzing about it. One other thing social media users have been talking about is Jimmy Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel was the moderator for the night, and this was his fourth time hosting the Oscars. His monologue had its moments – some good, some bad, and fans responded similarly. Some bits were hilarious, other offensive, but all in all, this was not the best hosting job he has done in his career. But there was one bit at the tail end of the show that turned out really funny, even though Kimmel was advised against doing it.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Best Oscar Bit Almost Didn’t Happen

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2024 Oscars, taking in the job for the fourth time. His monologue was tepid at best, with a few good quips (Silly Anne), and a few that didn’t sit too well with the audiences. His bit about Robert Downey Jr.’s past was especially condemned by a lot of the viewers watching online. But as long as the show does on, we guess!

His one joke that did pretty well was at the expense of former US President Donald Trump. Trump posted a ‘review’ on his Truth Social about the Oscars, especially targeting Jimmy Kimmel and his hosting. And even though Kimmel was asked not to read Trump’s post out to the audience, he went ahead and did it anyway.

Talking to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos at the post Oscars Live special, he told the hosts that a lottle before the show was ending, he decided on doing the bit on the former president. And although some people advised him against it, he was not one to listen to them.

“They’re like, ‘You’ve got a little bit of time’ and I was like, ‘I’m reading the Trump tweet,’ and they’re like, ‘No, no, don’t read that,’ [I was like] ‘Yes I am.’”

Well… that was one of the better moments from Kimmel for the night. So, I guess he made the right choice on that one.

What Did Donald Trump Say About The 2024 Oscars?

Former President Donald Trump is not a fan of the Oscars, and especially not the host for the night – Jimmy Kimmel. He has made his distaste clear known on many occasions over time, and this year wasn’t any different. Taking to his social media account on Truth Social, President Trump pisted a lengthy ‘review’ of the Oscars and its host.

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be…Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years – Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Jimmy Kimmel, not one to back out from such an open challenge, took the opportunity to call out the former president in his own brutal way. Taking to the stage at the tail end of the show, Kimmel read the post out loud before adding:

“Blah, blah, blah … OK, now, see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social. Anyone? No? Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still — isn’t it past your jail time?”

If you thought Jimmy Kimmel had it out for Matt Damon, that seems nothing compared to when he is dealing with one dissatisfied former president of the United States.
