While the leaked images and clips from the sets of James Gunn’s upcoming Superman is one thing keeping fans entertained, what’s even more entertaining is the behind-the-scenes conflict between David Corenswet’s Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. In fact, one recent post from Corenswet has seemingly given away the origin of his and Luthor’s rivalry all along.

This comes after an ostensibly friendly mishap on the sets of this upcoming film, which will mark the beginning of Gunn’s DCU reboot era, regarding Hoult single-handedly naming a protein shake that this duo seemingly shares offscreen while training. Inevitably, this led to the Blue Boy Scout portrayer calling him out on this injustice and declaring it a “fraud”!

Nicholas Hoult is Getting Called Out for a “Fraud” by David Corenswet

As fans already know, Hoult, 34, and Corenswet, 31, have collaborated to kickstart James Gunn‘s DCU reboot, by playing Lex Luthor and Clark Kent in it, respectively. That said, while they do battle their personal battles onscreen, this pair evidently works closely together offscreen as well — something that seems to have pointed out the root cause of their battle onscreen.

Allow us to explain: Recently, Nicholas Hoult took to his Instagram handle @nicholashoult to share some pictures after he, apparently, got told that “I don’t post enough so hi here’s some stuff.” Out of these, one of the pictures he posted was that of a protein milkshake that had the name written on top of it “The Sexy Lexy.” And that’s where everything went wrong.

After Hoult had posted that, David Corenswet went ahead and reshared his post on his Instagram story (via his handle @davidcorenswet), calling out Hoult for this “fraud” of naming the drink without even asking him. As he captioned the story:

This is fraud. I want my 50%. One point for every gram of protein in that shake. This, by rights, should be called “The Best Friends Working Together And Not Naming Anything Without Checking With The Other”

Apparently, as can be understood from the caption, The Greatest Hits actor feels his co-star and The Great actor has committed fraud with him by single-handedly naming the drink the duo share, without even considering consulting him about the same.

Ironically enough, as hilarious as this friendly onset mishap of Hoult naming the drink by himself and Corenswet standing up against injustice was, fans have now started deeming this as being the origin of Hoult and Corenswet’s respective DCU characters’ conflict all along.

Fans React to This Hilarious Superman Set Mishap

Ever since this offset drama between Corenswet and Hoult ensued on the internet, fans have been adding to the hilarity of this situation with their witty remarks. This they are doing by sharing their own respective takes on this situation.

While some fans are sarcastically claiming that this very “Sexy Lexy” drink is the very thing that led to the dispute between Corenswet and Hoult’s onscreen characters, others are swooning at this apparent “bromance” between the two. All in all, here’s what some of their top comments are saying on X on this matter:
