Pierce Brosnan Wasn’t a Fan of Daniel Craig’s 4th Bond Film Spectre

In 2015, former 007 Pierce Brosnan candidly shared his honest opinion about Daniel Craig‘s Spectre. The actor criticized the film, stating that it had a weak storyline and even drew a comparison to the Bourne franchise, which inadvertently led to insulting both the Bond and Bourne films in the process. Brosnan made these remarks while speaking to HitFix shortly after the release of the Bond film. His comments were quite forthright and not particularly kind in their delivery. He stated,

“The story was kind of weak – it could have been condensed. It kind of went on too long. It really did,–[Spectre] is neither fish nor fowl,–It’s neither Bond nor Bourne. Am I in a Bond movie? Not in a Bond movie?”

The actor revealed that he was “looking forward to it enormously”, and thus, in turn, felt deeply disappointed when the film failed to live up to his expectations. Now, he carries a sense of responsibility, no matter how small, for every success and setback the franchise experiences.

Brosnan ultimately blamed the story yet again and deemed Craig the perfect Bond. He believes the story and plot are what dragged the actor behind from delivering yet another classic.
