Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been collaborating with popular franchises ever since its release with the game adding Dune: Part Two characters as playable operators and two characters from The Boys in recently launched Season 1 Reloaded and is now gearing up for Season 2.
Season 1 of Call of Duty is fast approaching its end and Activision has revealed another exciting crossover for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as it collaborates with AMC Networks to bring the hit TV show The Walking Dead which will be bringing two new popular characters as operators.
Call of Duty Announces Crossover With The Walking Dead
Call of Duty Season 1 brought plenty of new content for players and Season 2 might be bringing some more with the upcoming The Walking Dead crossover. The crossover was announced by Activision on the official Call of Duty X/Twitter handle with a teaser trailer. The teaser is a recreation of the popular zombie apocalypse show’s opening title sequence.
The teaser seemingly features the Urzikstan map and shows the gritty visuals of the map with the iconic music of The Walking Dead. The fan-favorite characters from the series, Rick Grimes and Michonne also appear in the trailer, confirming that the popular characters will be available as playable operators in the game with Season 2 and also features Vladimir Makarov from the game.
This confirmation from Activision comes following multiple leaks and rumors suggesting that Call of Duty will be collaborating with The Walking Dead and bringing Rick Grimes and Michonne as operators. Moreover, the addition of both Rick and Michonne could also mean that more characters from the series could be seen in the game as there is no lack of iconic characters, and if lucky, the players might even get to see Negan Smith or Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon.
The main reason behind Rick and Michonne coming to the game as part of the crossover could be the upcoming spin-off The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The spin-off will follow Michonne on her journey to look for Rick after he disappeared from the main show in the ninth season. The first episode of The Ones Who Live is set to air on February 25, 2024, on AMC.
When Is Call of Duty x The Walking Dead Crossover Coming to the Game?
The teaser trailer did not give out the specific release date for the arrival of The Walking Dead crossover but it is expected to be released in Season 2. Season 2 update for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will arrive on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 9 am PT and will bring lots of new content for players. It is possible that the crossover could headline the upcoming season.
The developers have not provided any details on the Season 2 of the game but it is likely coming in the next few days. Moreover, it is also speculated that some Zombie-themed events and content might also be coming to the game that would make the zombie-slaying characters feel at home but it is not known what it could be at the moment and players need to wait for further information.
