2023 was relatively a quiet year for The Weeknd, as Taylor Swift stole the majority of the spotlight with a massive Eras Tour and the release of two re-recordings of her old records. She was the most streamed artist on Spotify followed by Bad Bunny and The Weeknd in second and third place respectively.
The Canadian singer-songwriter also had just one song among the top 10 streamed songs on the platform, Creepin, which was a result of his collaboration with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage. However, 2024 has started on a much more encouraging note for the Starboy singer. In fact, he might’ve set an unbreakable record.

The Weeknd’s Songs Continue to Dominate WWE WrestleMania
The Road to WrestleMania XL is underway. The 40th edition of the annual WrestleMania event is scheduled to take place on April 6 in Philadelphia and all eyes are on Cody Rhodes, who’s all set to headline the event by taking on Roman Reigns. Rhodes booked his ticket to Philadelphia by winning the men’s Royal Rumble match for the second year in a row.
As we approach closer to the main event, the excitement among the fans is rising at rocket speed, and so is their curiosity regarding different elements that will combine to make the two-night event at Lincoln Financial Field historic. One such element is the theme song for the big occasion.
It’s been confirmed that Gasoline by The Weeknd will be the official theme song for WrestleMania 40. Gasoline is part of his album, Dawn FM, which was released nearly two years ago.
The development means The Weeknd is now the only artist in WWE history to have five official theme songs at WrestleMania, five years in a row.
The streak started in 2020 when his Blinding Lights was picked up as the official theme song for WrestleMania 36. It was followed by Save Your Tears for WrestleMania 37, Sacrifice for WrestleMania 38; Less Than Zero for WrestleMania 39.
That’s one hell of a streak that is unlikely to be repeated by any other artist, as only a rare few talents manage to remain at the top of their game consistently for so many years and at the same time produce energetic hits that gel seamlessly with WrestleMania’s vibe.
How Dwayne Johnson and John Cena Fared When They Picked up the Mic
WWE and the music industry have always combined to great effect, so much so that many stars of the wrestling world have gone behind the mic in a recording studio. Two of the most successful exports of WWE: Dwayne Johnson and John Cena have both tested their musical talents.
In 2005, Cena released his debut album, You Can’t See Me, alongside his cousin Tha Trademarc. One of the songs in the album, The Time Is Now, climbed to #15 on the Billboard 200 chart when it first came out.
Johnson, meanwhile, linked with Tech N9ne to make his rap debut with the 2021 single, Face Off. It was also received pretty well by the fans, especially since the Baywatch star wrote his verse himself.
