The demigod Godrick, also commonly known as Godrick the Grafted, will be well remembered by the players as he is one of the early bosses players need to battle in Elden Ring. He got the name of the Grafted as he grafts the limbs of the deceased Tarnished to gain power from them.
He is one of the Shardbearers and a descendant of Godfrey. This makes him a part of the Golden Lineage and according to the Elden Ring lore, he is considered to be the child of Godwyn and Marika. However, this narrative might not be completely true and Godrick the demigod may have a different origin.
Wildest Elden Ring theory about Godrick
This theory takes on a different narrative and suggests that Marika might not be the biological mother of Godrick. According to it, Godrick was born after his biological father Godwyn slept with a dragon. This theory is based on the assumptions that are explained below.
Godwyn defeated Fortissax who is an ancient dragon. But he made friends with his fallen foe, and the Ancient Dragon Cult of the Royal Capital was born out of their friendship. Moreover, Leyndell considers dragon magic as part of the Golden Order because before being ruled by Marika and Godwyn, it was ruled by the dragons.
This may also be the reason that despite being a distant relative of Malenia, Godrick considers himself part of the Golden Order and thinks of himself as the lord of all that is golden.
Additionally, Godrick has a weird obsession with dragons as he is infamous for cutting his hand and grafting the head of a dragon to gain the ability to spew flames. He does this to win the fight, but there might be another reason as well.
Godrick’s obsession with dragons can be justified perhaps because he knows about his true lineage and wants to be more like his true biological mother, which in this case points to Lansseax. She is an ancient dragon and also a great enemy in the game which also implies that she is powerful.
Additionally, Godrick’s strength does not match with that of Marika’s other children. Because of this, he feels the need to graft his body using others’ parts in order to gain power from them. Nevertheless, despite being weak, he is considered to be one of the demigods in the game.
Godrick has to be the child of Godwyn and a dragon and because of his father, he got the status of a demigod despite being considerably weaker than others. Therefore, Elden Ring may have been lying about Godrick all along.
Is there an Elden Ring 2 coming?
When it comes to the most successful games by FromSoftware in the popular category of Soulslike games, it has to be Elden Ring without any doubt. The game has managed to sell 23 million units since its launch two years back and still enjoys a massive player base.
Still, not much is known in the public domain about a sequel of this game. Nevertheless, taking clues from the developer’s previous Soulslike games, and Elden Ring’s numerous endings, lead to hope for a potential sequel.
Given that the developers have recognized the game to be a critical and commercial success, it is highly possible that they might want to continue building the Elden Ring brand.
However, players should not expect to hear about the sequel soon as Elden Ring is set to get its first major DLC expansion in the form of Shadow of the Erdtree.
