Laurence Fishburne Joins The Witcher After Henry Cavill’s Departure

Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia is considered to be one of his greatest roles, as he embodied the character, and his immense knowledge of The Witcher universe helped in making things look more authentic. Nevertheless, in the fourth season, the Man of Steel actor’s absence will be felt, but to soften his absence, the show has decided to cast Laurence Fishburne.

As per Screen RantThe Witcher would cast Laurence Fishburne as Regis, the casting is sure to be stellar and bring in the fans that they have lost over the years. Geralt of Rivia had made numerous friends and allies throughout his journey and one of his most notable allies is Regis. The character of Regis is recovering from the addiction of drinking blood which had created an intoxicating effect on him.

Fishburne’s portrayal of the character would be perfect as he has the acting range to showcase a recovering addict, and instances of self-control. While the actor is great for the role, his addition to the cast is more important as adding a big name to the show would more or less lighten the damage dealt by Henry Cavill’s departure.

“It was time for him in his life to move on. I think we’ve all been mourning this in our own way. We had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show. [But] that’s not something that we were willing to do. There’s just too many stories left to tell.”

As per reports from Beau DeMayo, known for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021), he claimed that the writers of the show “actively disliked” Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, leading to a major reason for the fan outcries about the removal of the writers and retrieval of  Cavill. Nevertheless, Hissrich has not clarified by issuing a statement that led to the actor’s departure from the show.
