The actress explained the difference between vegan and vegetarian to the host,
“Umm…yeah, no, vegans don’t really eat anything. It’s like, hay, and straw.”
“I still have friends who are vegans and they just basically don’t eat any animal products but that eliminates a lot of things. Like I could eat this table.”
Conan O’Brien asked her the reason for giving up veganism, she replied,
“Because I became really badly anemic. I was really just drawn and, you know. It’s not healthy if you can’t do it right. So I stopped it.”
The actress had worked in Julia Roberts’ Mona Lisa Smile at the time of the interview.
Julia Stiles’ reaction to converting from veganism is incredible
In a conversation with Conan O’Brien, Julia Stiles revealed about having a hamburger after quitting veganism. She was asked if she liked the first bite of hamburger or steak if she was happy to eat or had to get accustomed to the taste. The Makeover actress replied,
“Oh God, the word orgasm comes to mind, it’s like…”
She added,
“Now I know why people… I mean, ‘aw, the poor little cows’ whatever, they taste really good there.”
Conan O’Brien joked that he would eat a vegan oat cookie if it is wrapped in bacon. Stiles also joked with him that he should market the idea.
The actress also shared about leaving veganism in conversation with Female First. She recalled,
“I stopped being a vegan and then became a vegetarian. But the first meat I ate was not a hamburger – that was just a joke I made on a TV chat show. I changed my diet because it wasn’t healthy. Being vegan is a hard thing to do and I became really badly anaemic. When you are traveling there is no way you can get proper nutrition. So now I do eat some red meat, but not all the time.”
The actress was part of a documentary film named Jennifer Lopez: Halftime and the horror flick Orphan: First Kill in 2022.
