Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman has recently shared that not only fans but also her 15-year-old daughter Sunday Rose has been anticipating another season of the popular HBO drama Big Little Lies. The actress has earlier hinted at the possibility of a follow-up season during a fan event.
However, an official confirmation about Season 3 and the potential return of the show’s cast is uncertain so far. In her recent interview with Elle, the actress shared that her daughter played a crucial role in getting another season off the ground.
Nicole Kidman’s Daughter Wants Another Season of Big Little Lies
During a recent interview with Elle, Nicole Kidman shared that she and Reese Witherspoon have been discussing a potential third season for the HBO drama Big Little Lies. She also expressed that the timing feels right to revisit their character and explore the “next chapter” of their lives.
Nicole Kidman shared that her daughter Sunday Rose has also been pushing for a third season of Big Little Lies after watching the first two seasons. The Dogville star also shared that her 15-year-old daughter even provided insightful notes on her character development. She shared,
“My daughter is the one who watched both of the series and went, ‘Okay, there’s just no question, there has to be a third—She’s like, ‘Celeste, she’s not coping in the second one, what is she doing? I could kind of see the point of view of Mary Louise.”
The HBO drama features Kidman in the role of Celeste Wright, a woman entangled in a turbulent marriage with Perry Wright (portrayed by Alexander Skarsgård). After Perry’s death in the first season, Season 2 of Big Little Lies delves into Celeste and her friends’ efforts to conceal the truth about his demise from his persistent mother, Mary Louise (portrayed by Meryl Streep).
The Abusive Scenes in the HBO Drama Had A Profound Impact on Nicole Kidman
The acclaimed HBO drama Big Little Lies is known for its portrayal of intense scenes depicting emotional, physical, and s*xual abuse between the characters Celeste and Perry, portrayed by Kidman and Skarsgård respectively. And bringing such scenarios to life on-screen has had a profound impact on the actress.
“I felt very exposed and vulnerable and deeply humiliated at times,” she said during an interview with W Magazine. She also recalled a particularly memorable moment from one of the episodes where she found herself emotionally overwhelmed, lying on the ground and crying.
“I was just lying there, sort of broken and crying and I remember at one point coming over and just sort of placing a towel over me because I was just lying there in half-torn underwear and just basically on the ground with nothing on and I was just, like [gasps].”
Kidman even admitted to receiving bruises from filming such scenes. However, the thing that was even more complicated was when she had to explain such bruises to her daughters, leading to her conflicts between passion and personal relationships. Despite the difficulties, Kidman acknowledged feeling grateful that her portrayal has resonated with other women.
Big Little Lies is available to stream on Max.
