Eiza Gonzalez Was Excited To Be Part Of Three Body Problem

Mexican star Eiza Gonzalez is all set to dazzle audiences in March when she takes on the lead role in the series Three Body Problem. This sci-fi thriller which is based on the novel of the same name by Liu Cixin, has been visualized for the screen by Game Of Thrones creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. While Gonzalez has been a well-known face thanks to her international appeal and the projects she’s done around the world, she confessed that the prospect of living up to the reputation has weighed on her.

But all these trepidations vanished when the Baby Driver actor got hold of the script. Revealing the surreal feeling she had on seeing the narrative unfold before her, Gonzalez immediately made the choice to be part of this illustrious project. Speaking to L’Officiel, she elaborated on the aspects of the story that stood out and made her a huge fan.

After I educated myself, read the scripts, and read the book, there was no way I couldn’t be part of this show. I have never seen a show like this. There [isn’t one show or one movie] that I can reference…I would have to reference seven different types of sci-fi to explain our show. I think that, to me, it was a no-brainer. It was groundbreaking.”

Gonzalez was also grateful that she was given the opportunity to be part of projects that challenged her as an artist and gave her meaty roles to sink her teeth into.

Why Eiza Gonzalez Is Thankful To Guy Ritchie

It looks to be a packed first quarter in 2024 for Eiza Gonzalez. Apart from playing the lead in a brand new series titled Three Body Problem, the Mexican beauty has also landed a marquee gig in British director Guy Ritchie’s film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare in which she co-stars with Henry Cavill.

The World War 2 spy thriller which is due to release in April, will see the actor-singer flex her muscles in an action-packed true story based on the book Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII by Damien Lewis.

In an interview with L’Officiel, Gonzalez spoke of her experiences working on this highly anticipated project. She was all praise for her director Guy Ritchie for not only giving her the opportunity but for also having faith in her to be able to do roles that were culturally different from her identity.

“He has allowed me to do things that no other director has ever allowed me to do. One that I can probably mention without being a spoiler is that he allowed me [to] play a full British character, and I have to do a British accent.”

Judging by her Instagram post in which she shared pictures from the sets, it is pretty evident that the Bloodshot star was extremely happy to be part of this film. Gonzalez hoped that the risk that Guy Ritchie took by casting her, would pay rich dividends.

Three Body Problem will stream on Netflix from March 21st, 2024.
