Jamie Foxx Was Happy With Electro’s Updated Appearance

Jamie Foxx, the multifaceted talent of Hollywood, couldn’t contain his delight over the revamped appearance of his character, Electro.

Foxx, who had previously portrayed the electrically charged villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, also reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. What set this apart was the thrilling makeover given to Electro’s design.

However, Electro had originally appeared on the big screen in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Despite the film being considered one of the worst to star the famed web-slinger, Electro was certainly a memorable villain.

Also, his reintroduction in the Spider-Man film was a welcome inclusion, notwithstanding the poor reception of his first film appearance.

Previously Foxx discussed his return to the role of Electro in an interview published on the official Marvel website. He went on to explain how Electro’s acknowledgment of his new look in the movie’s script had been integral to pulling off such a drastic alteration to his previously established character.

The biggest thing that changed was that he acknowledged the way he looked. He said,

The thing Electro gets in his chest; he gets ahold of [the arc reactor], that’s going to be crazy. And just looking to my right, and looking to my left, the people that were onset, and going, Wow, It’s a moment. It transcends art right now. This is a moment that people- and I remember saying, ‘When you walk out sir, there will be cheers and tears.”

Foxx offered nothing but praise for both the process through which the character was redesigned and the appearance they ultimately settled on during the production of No Way Home.

The artist’s enthusiasm had been palpable as he shared his contentment with the fresh, updated look of his character. However, it’s worth noting that he had previously expressed reservations about Electro being blue.

In the land of cinematic artistry, few things were as intriguing as the creative choices made in the development of iconic characters. MCU architect Kevin Feige and Sony producer Amy Pascal had previously sat down with Brandon Davis from Comicbook.com.

Amid their discussion of various other topics related to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the trio eventually delved into the subject of Electro.

When the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, many fans were upset by the character’s full body-spanning electric blue color, a stark departure from his look in the comics.

However, trailers for Spider-Man: No Way Home had revealed that in his latest film, Electro would be outfitted in a costume much more akin to his comic book source material, including what appeared to be an Iron Man arc reactor.

This subject had come up when Davis had asked Feige if Electro lost his blue appearance because of that arc reactor. Feige replied, “I won’t say that you’re wrong. I also won’t say that you’re right.”

Foxx also earlier commented regarding his blue costume, via Comicbook.

“I was excited…[Amy Pascal] was explaining to me that it’s gonna be hot, and I didn’t have to be blue, and things like that as far as my character is concerned.”

This creative departure created debates and difficulties that finally resulted in a captivating revision of the character.
