Apart from being a WWE superstar and one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors, Dwayne Johnson’s towering personality and charisma have also infused a sense of confidence and security among fans across the world. With his discipline, work ethic, and his connect with global audiences, The Rock is widely considered a perfect role model. In a poll, the Jumanji 2 star received a considerable amount of support from Americans in the country who believed that he would make an excellent President of the USA.
Johnson also admitted that he was approached by various parties to stand for elections, but refused these offers. While he revealed that he was tempted to run based on all the love he received, the ugly side of politics did not appeal to him. One of the reasons for the actor shunning this opportunity could be the controversies that denied him a Black Adam sequel.
Why Dwayne Johnson Turned Down A Chance To Be President
From being a champion wrestler to conquering the Hollywood action scene, Dwayne Johnson has done it all. Following his stupendous success and his huge fan base, the actor was part of a poll in which 46% of Americans wished to see him run the country as the President of the United States of America. The actor in an in-depth chat with Trevor Noah for his What Now? podcast, said that despite being deeply moved by the love and trust he received from people, politics did not attract him.
“It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.”
The actor also revealed that his primary responsibility apart from his career, was to spend time with his three daughters and be there for them during all their significant milestones.

Is James Gunn Responsible For Dwayne Johnson’s Aversion to Politics?
Ever since James Gunn took over as the head of DC, the franchise has seen many significant changes in ideas and personnel. From orchestrating the shocking exit of Henry Cavill as Superman, to shutting down a potential Black Adam sequel with Dwayne Johnson, Gunn has garnered some criticism in his attempt to reinvent the franchise.
Johnson in particular, had ambitious plans to become a leader of sorts in the DCU, with his character being the central focus in a Black Adam/Suicide Squad/ Justice League crossover film. Unfortunately, with the failure of Black Adam coinciding exactly with Gunn’s appointment, The Rock’s vision came crashing down. While the action star did not openly accuse the Guardians of the Galaxy director of giving Black Adam 2 the boot, he indicated this rather clearly in Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart.
“Black Adam got caught in a vortex of new leadership. And at that time, as we were creating Black Adam, developing it, shooting Black Adam … it was so many changes in leadership. And as you know, anytime you have a company and you have all those changes in leadership, you have people coming in who, creatively and fiscally, are going to make decisions that you may not agree with.”
In addition, Gunn also received criticism for playing favorites with his wife, actor Jennifer Holland. This sort of intrinsic politics that was reportedly evident in the DC franchise, could have most likely deterred Dwayne Johnson from dreaming of a political career as President of the United States, despite being considered a strong contender for the post.
