Creatures of Ava is the next Pokemon-like monster-catching game to hit the public. It looks like Palworld‘s existence inspired a bunch of others to shake off their fear of being sued by Game Freak and try their hand at the genre.
The competition in the monster-catching genre is heating up, with so many new entries and not enough time to play them all. Fortunately for the developers behind Ava, people already seemed sold on the premise.
Pokemon-like Game Creatures of Ava Set to Release Soon
![Creatures of Ava is all about healing and befriending your Pokemon-equivalent friends.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/19134035/creatures-of-ava-1-1024x576.jpg)
Creatures of Ava is the latest title from Spanish developers Inverge Studios and Chibig. The game was unveiled through an interesting trailer where, unlike Pocketpair’s and GameFreak’s titles, players become friends with creatures to tame them rather than beating them into submission.
In the trailer, we spot quite a lot of interesting creatures. The art style is nowhere near the current popular monster-catching games, making it an interesting sight for those looking for a fresh take on the genre. According to the synopsis:
Abaa is a planet in peril slowly decaying under the pressure of a mystical infection called ‘The Withering’. Take on the role of bright-eyed adventurer, Vic, and investigate Ava’s vibrant landscapes while taking action to save its existence and the existence of all its inhabitants.
The game uses a unique non-aggressive combat system that is “designed for healing rather than defeating.” Players befriend these creatures through playing Indigenous Flute melodies, rather than forcibly capturing them.
The game is set to release on 7 August 2024 on Xbox and PC only. There is currently a demo out right now on Steam, so players can check it out if they have the chance.

With the sudden resurgence of the genre with tons of new IPs putting their spin on it, there are bound to be people tired of seeing it. Has the genre really turned into the next craze, after hero shooters just had a resurgence? (via Concord, Marvel Rivals, etc.)
The answer will be different depending on who you ask, but no doubt there are a lot of people who are excited about the release of Ava. The demo has left a good enough impression to get multiple people on board with the game.
These creature capture games, are like these new hero shooters. There's a new one every week.

The publishing company behind the title knows what it’s doing. It’s not the first rodeo for 11 bit studio, which has released popular indie hits like Children of Morta, Indika, and the Frostpunk series.
