Chris Hemsworth may have earned global recognition as an actor through his performance as Thor Odinson in projects from the MCU, but that isn’t the only franchise that has established a fairly respectable future for him in the industry.

While his other projects are one thing, the mastermind Avengers: Endgame helmers seem to have complete faith in one other of Hemsworth’s saga.

This one franchise is his superhit Extraction action saga, and Joe and Anthony Russo, who were the genius brains behind the 2019 masterpiece from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are already backing up that franchise.

But that’s not all, because Joe and Anthony Russo have even more on their mind about their next projects that would be focused on “original storytelling”!

Avengers: Endgame Directors Have Big Plans for Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction Saga

Back in 2020, fans received something extraordinary after seeing their favorite (yet bloated from all the beer) older Odinson brother give up his position as the King of Asgard to Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame: Chris Hemsworth, back in his glorious form, as the ruthless mercenary Tyler Rake.

Moreover, this mercenary had to take the responsibility of rescuing and bringing back an Indian crime lord’s teenage son from Bangladesh irrespective of the blood bath he’d have to go through, which was truly something new after seeing him in the sequel to Infinity War.

This was what the fan-favorite smash-hit first Extraction movie was all about, and its titular sequel piece took it to even the next level of entertainment and action-packed sequences for fans, thanks to Anthony Russo and Joe Russo being in the producer’s chairs.

That being said, this directing duo isn’t done yet with that action franchise and has a lot more to deliver to global audiences with the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga actor in the lead through a threequel which is reportedly in the works at Netflix.

During a recent interview with GamesRadar+, they shared that the film is in development, saying:

We’re developing it at the moment, figuring out Chris’s schedule. Sam Hargrave is back directing.

That’s not all: This dynamic duo also provided their insights on just what themes fans could expect to see in this third movie.

The mastermind pair said:

It’s an interesting franchise because he’s a very emotionally wounded character, so there’s good storytelling there I think in respect to his backstory, and, you know, his relationship to violence is one that’s built around self-loathing and guilt. And so, it adds a lot of texture I think, which allows us to tell more stories about him.

Needless to say, that sounds like an amazing plan that could deliver an even more in-depth take on Hemsworth’s character arc as the iconic Tyler. And more Tyler means all the more action-packed sequences, so it seems like fans have quite a bit of peak entertainment waiting around the corner.

However, that’s not all, because Anthony and Joe Russo have even more planned for themselves with respect to their next few projects!

Russo Brothers’ Next Projects Will Feature “Original Storytelling”

Continuing during the same interview, the duo also shared their plans for their respective future projects besides Extraction 3. And these new projects won’t be bringing anything repetitive like from the superhero franchises, considering how Joe said:

For us, it’s all about the focus on original storytelling and new ideas.

As they went on to talk more about this, the brothers let out how they believe “we’re in a rut of repetitive storytelling and potential franchise abuse” and that “the audience is craving new ideas and new stories,” as they claimed blockbusters like Barbie and Oppenheimer clearly proved.

So now, the one question they will be focusing on is: What are those new stories? Which, needless to say, sounds like an incredibly good idea after all the superhero fatigue talk.

That being said, they are super concentrated on the “original stories” they’ve been developing the past few years with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and collaborators at AGBO, and are “very excited” about it all.

So fans, hold tight to your chairs, for Joe and Anthony Russo are all set to leave you baffled with their upcoming original (and presumed smash hit) pieces!
