These days, many fans know Mark Ruffalo for two major reasons. First is his portrayal of the mighty green Avenger, The Hulk, and second is hilariously giving away major plot points from whatever movie he stars in. However, his fanbase extends beyond the realm of gamma radiation and super strength.
The MCU itself is a global phenomenon, having raked in a staggering $30 billion at the global box office. However, Ruffalo, one of its most important cast members, does not believe that the MCU is his biggest claim to fame.
Fans See Mark Ruffalo As More of Matty Flamhaff From 13 Going on 30 Than Hulk From MCU
Mark Ruffalo, or whom many know as the Incredible Hulk, might actually be more recognized for a completely different role. Believe it or not, it seems many fans associate Ruffalo more with his character Matty Flamhaff from the beloved 2004 rom-com 13 Going on 30, than the rage-fueled Avenger.
The cast of the rom-com recently sat down to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the cult-classic movie. Ruffalo, in his signature style, joked about how he was more known for this movie than his decade-long stint as Banner. The video was shared by her co-stars Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer on their Instagram
“There’s two types of people in this world: There’s Hulk people, and there’s ’13 Going on 30′ people, and I get equal amounts – way more ’13 Going on 30′.”
While Ruffalo’s portrayal of Bruce Banner/Hulk is undeniably iconic, his comedic turn as Matty, the sweet and supportive best friend in 13 Going on 30, holds a special place in fans’ hearts. This lighthearted rom-com continues to be a pop culture favorite, and Ruffalo’s performance as the lovable Matty is a big part of that.
Mark Ruffalo is Set to Star in Mickey 17 Featuring Robert Pattinson
While the future of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk remains unclear, his filmography continues to branch out in exciting ways. His next movie is the highly anticipated science fiction film Mickey 17, directed by none other than Bong Joon-ho, the visionary mind behind the Oscar-winning Parasite.
Starring alongside Ruffalo is Robert Pattinson, the current face of Batman. Fans of superhero cinema will likely be thrilled to see this dynamic duo team up, albeit outside the realm of capes and tights.
The movie is adapted from the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. It is a high-concept story that explores themes of mortality, identity, and the nature of humanity in a futuristic setting. However, the movie is expected to surprise even those who have read the book.
The writer Ashton revealed to Nerdist that the director was “going to change a lot about the book.” However, the movie is not going to be released anytime before at least January 2025.
