Kohei Horikoshi has etched his name as one of the most popular manga artists of the modern generation. One of the best things about him is that he does not bind himself to the Japanese culture and often explores Western culture. He takes inspiration from American superheroes. During an interview, he mentioned a web-crawler who reminds him of Son Goku.

Kohei Horikoshi mentioned Dragon Ball as his favorite anime and was fond of the Cell Saga. Dragon Ball‘s Son Goku inspired All Might. The former having blonde hair is due to Goku’s Super Saiyan hair color. The My Hero Academia creator often delves into Western superheroes and takes inspiration from them. Due to his fondness for American comics, he was asked what heroes he liked. Being a fan of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, he immediately mentioned the web crawler.

Kohei Horikoshi said,

“Probably have to be Goku and Spiderman. To me, when mentioning heroes, these two are the ones that I think of. In Goku’s case, it’s the reassurance that everything is going to be fine he brings when arriving.”

For him, Spider-Man and Goku are the same because their presence is reassuring on the battlefield. When the villains are beating up the protagonists, the entry of such powerful characters brings assurance to the fans’ minds.

Horiskoshi even took Goku’s entry on planet Namek as an example. When Frieza was literally toying with Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan, the fans were pretty tense. But once Goku entered the fight fully healed, it brought comfort to everyone’s mind that he was going to take care of things.

Rightfully, he did take care of everything. Just like how Spider-Man saves people in distress, like the train scene in Spider-Man 2.

Izuku Midoriya Lost One for All In My Hero Academia

The Hero Association is busy fighting against Tomura Shigaraki and All for One. With the climax nearing, the mangaka gave one of the biggest shocks to the fans. In My Hero Academia chapter 421, Deku has lost One for All. It has been absorbed by Shigaraki. Even after such a tragic incident, the entire class 1-A and the pro heroes are giving their all against the villains.

Deku, now quirkless, still believes that he has left some of One for All within him. With that, he vows to use every last bit of his abilities to end the terror and misery caused by the villains. Fans are pretty excited and tensed about how things unfold. At this moment, they require someone who can reassure them of the pro heroes’ victory.
