Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man is one of the most significant superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ant-Man a.k.a Scott Lang is fun and enigmatic. Remarkably, the superhero has his own franchise marking his prominence in the Avengers.

But if to compare quite a similar superhero, Atom, from MCU’s rival DC Studios to MCU’s very own Ant-Man, who would win the face-off? Well, Rudd thinks Ant-Man will be victorious in the battle between the two rival superheroes.

Marvel and DC have shared a long history of rivalry throughout the progression and development of both these studios. Both the superhero giants have created marvelous heroes that have gained millions of fans across the globe. Sometimes, however, some heroes share similar traits and MCU’s Ant-Man and DC’s Atom are the perfect examples of it. Both the superheroes can shrink to the size of an atom but when it comes to the other possibilities, Ant-Man stands out as special. Oddly enough, DC has yet to explore the potential of Atom while Marvel has established the character to the next level possible making the character an integral part of the timeline of MCU. Alfie Wise and John Kassir have played the DC character in a few television series and Brandon Routh played Atom in Legends of Tomorrow in the shared DC Arrowverse on The CW.

But if a battle were to occur between Ant-Man and Atom, Paul Rudd believes Ant-Man would be by default victorious as he has more power than just shrinking to the maximal level. Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, Rudd looked back to his Ant-Man while Howard Stern reminded him that Atom came first and “they are f*cking ripping off the Atom.” But ants have amazing strengths, they can lift something up six times their body weight. And that’s what makes the Ant-Man amazing, Rudd emphasized.

Ant-Man is the product of the technological fusion of ants and the marvel of science. “They are incredible, they are amazing creatures, I read up on them,” Rudd told Stern of the power of ants. While Ant-Man has the ability to communicate despite shrinking to a remarkably tiny being, Atom can not talk to anybody when he lives the size of an atom, let alone summon the ants. “That was his big downfall,” Rudd said. It is a clear indication that if hypothetically there comes an Ant-Man vs. Atom movie, Rudd’s superhero would definitely defeat Atom as the DC character’s weakness is visible and that would make it easier for Ant-Man to defeat him.

The actor also revealed that he tries not to kill ants in real life as well. “I don’t like to kill anything at all, am I really so much better than this spider?” he said as the impact of the movie has integrated into his regular life as well. But this Ant-Man vs. Atom ordeal has been around for far too long among fans as they have hypothesized a fantasy battle between the superheroes on numerous occasions.
