The superhero genre is not a new ball park. From MCU to DCU to several other anime or animated projects, this genre has thrived among audiences. Fans love superheroes who manage to do extraordinary feats. But The Boys became an anomaly among the ordinary. Where superheroes are the villains and others try to stop them, The Boys managed to win over the audience with its different approach to the genre.

With three successful seasons already in the bag, Prime Video will be soon back with the fourth season for the show. And now we have confirmation that the show will come back for a fifth season. With so many fan favorite characters – some we love and some that we love to hate – the show has everything a fan needs to keep them hooked. But after four confirmed seasons and another already in talks, we have to ask : Is it a good idea to keep dragging the storyline for so long?
The Boys Gets Renewed For Season 5 Weeks Before The Release of Season 4
In Amazon Prime Video’s very first upfronts presentation to advertisers, the streaming platform confirmed that The Boys will return for a Season 5. The show is currently three seasons down, with the fourth one to premiere next month. With a few weeks in hand before that can happen, Prime Video has already decided to renew the show for one more season.

Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, said during the presentation:
“’The Boys’ is an unabashed and bold series that continues captivating our customers all over the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season. We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans.”
The Boys became a massive success with its gripping storyline, compelling performances from the whole cast, and a villain that no one can take their eyes off in Antony Starr‘s Homelander. Since 2019, the audiences have been hooked to the show and have nothing but praise for everyone and everything that makes up The Boys. But after 5 years, there is one thing that concerns the fans.
Fans Are Concerned The Boys Is Repeating a Worrying Hollywood Trend
These days, if a movie has made good money, then chances are high we will have a sequel to it. The same goes for TV shows – they get renewed pretty soon if the ratings are high enough. And The Boys is one of the highest-rated TV shows ever. So it is no surprise that it has been getting renewed each season since it’s debut. And that we already have confirmation for a Season 5, even before the release of Season 4.

But fans are worried that the showrunners and the production studios are dragging the story for too long, and it might become detrimental in the future. While the storyline each season is exciting to watch with new characters and plot twists added to the mix, at the end of it, the premise of the whole thing is basically Butcher, played by Karl Urban, trying to kill Homelander. It would be better to end the show on a high note and not drag it to the point of no return. Here is what fans have to say:
As much as I absolutely love the show…
Season 5 needs to be the final chapter https://t.co/8ipjjyReA8

I agree. They can only keep it going for so long. S5 needs to be the end (but not the end of the spin offs)

As much as i would love for it to keep giving me content, i do also want them to end on a high note snd not squeeze the show until its hated by its fanbase

it feels like it’s just dragging on in my opinion

End on a high note

Theyre dragging out homelander so much. No show should have 1 singular villain theyve been trying to kill for 4 seasons straight.

Well… Whether the show gets more seasons added or not, if we know one thing, The Boys will give us some of the best television to watch. For now, let’s just enjoy the fact that next season will be upon us soon.
The Boys Season 4 is ready to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 13.
