Breaking from their typical post-holiday routine, Kate Middleton and Prince William adopted a more private stance in January 2024. This departure from Princess Kate’s usually busy schedule in previous years included fewer public engagements in the first weeks of the new year, with only one solo appearance by Prince William, following a lively December and a Christmas appearance with the royal family.

The palace announced on January 17 that the 42-year-old Princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery the previous day. After nearly two weeks in the hospital, she is now in the recovery phase at home, with expectations of returning to public engagements after Easter.

While a palace source informed PEOPLE that Kate Middleton “continues to be doing well” in her recovery, the dearth of updates about the Princess of Wales has raised concerns. All that is known at this point is that the issue she faced was non-cancerous.

Just before the memorial service, Kensington Palace informed reporters, and Prince William personally conveyed the information to King Constantine’s family. Despite concerns about her recovery, a Palace aide reassured that she is “continuing to make good progress.” Following her surgery at the London Clinic on January 16, the Princess has not been seen in public, with her last appearance dating back to Christmas Day at Sandringham House last year.

Following her abdominal surgery in January 2024, Kate Middleton has kept a low public profile. However, the Princess of Wales recently posted a photograph on her social media pages. Taken by Prince William, the picture features her alongside her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. This image represents the first official picture of the British royal released since her surgery, capturing Middleton’s joyful presence alongside her children.

However, Kate Middleton released a statement regarding the aforementioned photo and issued an apology for editing it. This only made fans more and more suspicious about what was going on with the Royal Family.

In fact, the conspiracy theories resulted in fans going to social media and demanding that the highly popular show, The Crown, should make a return after it was abruptly canceled following the 6th season last year.
