Former American writer and actress, Carrie Fisher, is famously known for playing Princess Leia in the original Star Wars films. Fisher also appeared in the popular 1989 romance comedy When Harry Met Sally… which received a few Golden Globe nominations, including best picture, an Academy nomination for best original screenplay, and many critical accolades. Sadly, the actor passed away on 27 December 2016 after a cardiac arrest.

Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd has also registered her name as a star emerging towards fame. Carrying her mother’s legacy, Lourd made her debut as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix in the 2015 movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Later, she appeared in horror TV shows like Scream Queens, American Horror Stories, and movies including Ticket to Paradise, and Booksmart

Actress Carrie Fisher will be honored posthumously by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on May 4th, 2023. The event will recognize the actor with the 2,754th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures.

However, Billie Lourd did not invite her late mother Carrie Fisher’s siblings — Todd, Joely, and Tricia Leigh Fisher to the ceremony.

Lourd issued a public statement following Fisher’s siblings appearing in the news over being left out of their sister’s ceremony. Responding to that Lourd said that her mother’s siblings have been capitalizing on their sister’s death through interviews and book deals. “I have seen the postings and press release issued by my mother’s brother and sister,” Lourd said.

“I apologize to anyone reading this for feeling the need to defend myself publicly from these family members. But unfortunately, because they publicly attacked me, I have to publicly respond. The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why.”

There’s more to the story as the tension between them accelerated.

Just a day after Fisher’s death, Fisher’s mother and Lourd’s grandmother, Debbie Reynolds also passed away adding further grief to the family. However, Lourd feels that Fisher’s siblings’ intentions are not respectful of the grief she’s having.

“Days after my mom died, her brother and her sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mom and my grandmother’s deaths as the subject,” Lourd said.

“I found out they had done this through the press. They never consulted me or considered how this would affect our relationship. The truth of my mom’s very complicated relationship with her family is only known by me and those who were actually close to her. Though I recognize they have every right to do whatever they choose, their actions were very hurtful to me at the most difficult time in my life. I chose to and still choose to deal with her loss in a much different way.”

Following her statement, it is evident that Lourd is still not over her mother’s death and her relative’s actions have made it worse.

On May 2, Todd Fisher told TMZ that being left out of the guest list of the late actor’s ceremony was “heartbreaking” and “shocking.” “I was intentionally omitted from attending this important legacy event for my sister, Carrie,” he added.

Later, Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher posted a joint statement on Instagram expressing the same concern as Todd.

“For some bizarre, misguided reason our niece has chosen not to include us in this epic moment in our sister’s career. This is something Carrie would have definitely wanted her siblings to be present for. The fact that her only brother and two sisters were intentionally and deliberately excluded is deeply shocking,” the statement wrote.

The recent public appearance of the Fisher siblings was upsetting for Lourd. Responding to their statement Lourd said, “The press release Todd Fisher gave to TMZ and the posting Joely Fisher placed on Instagram, once again confirms that my instincts were right.”

“To be clear — there is no feud. We have no relationship. This was a conscious decision on my part to break a cycle with a way of life I want no part of for myself or my children.”

“The people who knew and loved my mom at Disney and Lucasfilm have made this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honor her legacy possible”

Further, the actor said that this moment is about Carrie Fisher and all that she accomplished and what she meant to the world and she’s going to focus on that. “May the 4th be with you,” she concluded. Possibly, more updates will surface after the ceremony.
