Fans of the superhero world, DCU, are extremely excited about the upcoming era of the universe. Obviously, the biggest reason for this is Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in Black Adam. According to reports the sequel to Man of Steel will finally become a reality after all these years. However, Amy Adams might not be in it.

Amy Adams who played Clark Kent’s love interest, Lois Lane is adored by fans of the franchise. However, there might be a possibility that the rumored Man of Steel sequel won’t have her back. While she has stated that she is extremely happy to see Henry Cavill returning as Superman, she herself hasn’t been approached by the team for the sequel.

While Amy Adams has appeared in a total of four movies in the DCU, the chances of a fifth one are quite hazy at the time. While at the world premiere event for Disenchanted, Adams was approached by Variety. She commented about how exciting it was to see Henry Cavill return.

Isn’t that exciting?! I mean, I think I heard it from my husband actually, yeah. I’m thrilled for him, he’s such a wonderful Superman, so I’m excited for him.”

When asked if she would also return as Lois Lane, Adams revealed that there’s no certainty to it as of now. This is because the Warner Bros. studio hasn’t yet had a conversation with her about the reprisal of her role. However, if it was up to her, she’d be more than willing to return. On the other hand, she believes if the studios go in a different direction and choose someone else for the role, she would be standing in support of the decision.

I mean, if it’s me, great. If it’s somebody else, the role of Lois has been filled by so many wonderful actresses in the past, so I’ll support whatever direction they go.”

It certainly looks like the Enchanted actress loves Lois Lane so much that she keeps the character above herself. But it does raise the question of “if not her then who?”

With DCU beginning a new era and Superman returning, there are quite a few talks about the reboot of the Superman franchise. This would mean that Clark Kent’s story will not pick up from the end of Man of Steel and would instead mark a new beginning for the character. Even if Man of Steel 2 happens, the movie might have a completely new story.

So what would this mean for Adams’ character? Well, if the franchise is returning to start from scratch, there is a possibility that several characters might face a recasting, including Lois Lane. If this were to be the case, fans would undoubtedly be furious as Adams has already proven her worth as Lois.

If Henry Cavill can return as Superman, there is not much sense in recasting Lois. Fans are used to seeing the Clark-Lois dynamic on screen and it would be a bit insensitive to rob the audience of the perfect love story.

Disenchanted will release in theatres on November 18, 2022.
