Industry Expert Thinks That Hollywood John Wick-ed The Crow!

Based on the graphic novel created by James O’Barr, The Crow was a 1994 movie that starred Brandon Lee in the lead role. The movie also marked Lee’s last role since the actor shortly died after a mishap with the prop gun which left him fatally wounded.

In more recent news, the 1994 film is getting a remake with iconic actor Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise from IT) in the lead role. During their talks on John Rocha’s  YouTube channel, here’s what notable insider Jeff Sneider had to say about the trailer for The Crow and the 1994 film’s reboot alongside some changes and contrasts!

“It looked like a nightmare. It just didn’t look like The Crow, man. I’m sorry. It was… it was heartbreaking to watch this morning. I was like. I don’t want to say what I actually said but… it was bad.”

Sneider further continued,

“They John Wick-ed it, dude. I mean, Lionsgate acquired this movie like… did they not make it? Because it felt like a Lionsgate movie. They gave it the John Wick treatment. And, I don’t know man. It just… it looked generic”

Although there is some truth to Jeff Sneider’s words that the trailer looks too much like John Wick meets Constantine, we do believe that the trailer looks sick. With Bill Skarsgard shining in the lead role, the film is highly anticipated and may still turn out to be a superhit.

Other than the similar vibes, The Crow and John Wick have one more connection. Bill Skarsgard. The actor portrayed the role of the villain against Keanu Reeves’ in Chapter 4 and received some backlash because of his accent as well!

“Skarsgård came to me, he goes, ‘I want to do a little bit like fu*ked up French, like Cajun accent. And I’m like, ‘I have no idea what that sounds like.’ Some people gave us sh*t a little bit because it’s not a good French accent. I’m like, ‘Guys, it’s not supposed to be French.’ Like, he wasn’t trying to be French; he’s a guy that speaks French, that’s all,” said Stehelski (via Far Out Magazine).

Well, although he may have taken a gamble, the film was received quite well by the audiences and was well-loved around the world. Bill Skarsgard’s upcoming film, The Crow is set for release on 7 June 2024 in theaters across the U.S.
