While the show is engaging and fun to watch, most of its fans agree that having more real-life soccer personalities cameo in the show will raise its level.

In the third season of the Jason Sudeikis-led show, we finally saw famed soccer manager, Pep Guardiola, come in. That real-life cameo appearance made everyone go into a tailspin as the Ted Lasso fanbase collided with the gigantic football fanbase online. As for why Guardiola agreed to the cameo- there’s a simple reason.

No one could have expected that Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, will show up in Ted Lasso season 3’s 12th episode. But it indeed happened and was one of the best crossovers that ever took place on-screen. As reported by Mirror Football, Guardiola revealed during a press conference that he loves the show, especially the first season, and was happy to cameo in it.

He said:

“Yeah, Ted Lasso needs people like me to make a show better so that they’ll have success. As a family, we’re a big, big fan. So, my little daughter, Valentina, and my wife, we enjoy a lot to watch the show. We are a big fan, especially the first season.”

So was Guardiola offered the opportunity to cameo on the show? Or did he ask for it? The manager said it was the former. He also revealed that he agreed to appear in the show because he could meet the actors. Guardiola explained:

“When they offered a cameo, I said ‘Why not?’ and I could meet the actors.” 

The Spanish manager further said that he did talk with the actors and they were nice to him. Fans agreed that the show does need real-life football personalities because that ensures deeper immersion into the show. Also, many thought that Guardiola’s cameo was well-executed in the show.

In the 12th episode of season 3, Pep Guardiola played a football manager whose City faces the titular character Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond. The teams are at the Etihad Stadium gunning for the title. City has the support of the fans and is the favorite one to win the league. But if Lasso’s team wins, they will get one step closer to their championship hopes.

Overall, Ted Lasso season 3 is shaping up to be amazing. The show will air the final episode of season 3 on 31 May.
