Schwarzenegger mentioned in an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that his grandchildren loved to play with his farm animals. He said,

“Katherine and Chris, her husband, they come over to the house at least, I think, once a week. And then I play with the animals with them. We have a great time. I put them on the back of the miniature donkey … And then, one time, one wanted to ride the pig. I said ‘No, no. The pigs — you don’t ride pigs.’”

His grandchildren, Lyla and Eliose, reportedly also loved the oatmeal cookies that he prepared and served to his farm animals. The Terminator star, however, did not approve of one thing about his grandchildren. He mentioned that while he loved them, his daughter and son-in-law had spoiled the children. He said,

“The only thing is that they are a little spoiled. Because when I took them to the stall and ask[ed] them to help me, you know, shovel the manure, they said no.”

The actor mentioned that when he brought this up with his son-in-law Chris Pratt, the latter immediately said to him that his kids were not brought up to do that.

Though Arnold Schwarzenegger believed his grandchildren were spoiled, he reportedly saw many of his parenting techniques that were used on his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger, used on the children. The actor mentioned that he was a believer in tough parenting and disciplining as he grew up with next to nothing.

In an interview with People magazine, the actor revealed the kind of shenanigans he would do to keep his children disciplined, which reportedly became hilarious stories later in life. He said that he once threw his son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s mattress outside the house because he had not made his bed. He said,

“I opened up the door to the balcony, picked up the mattress, and threw it down with the bedsheets, the pillows, everything. I said, don’t ever make someone come in and clean your room, clean your shower, or make your bed. I said, ‘Because I taught you how to make the bed.'”

The actor also recalled an incident where his daughter Katherine instilled the same values that he had instilled in her own daughter. The Commando star had reportedly burned his daughter’s shoes as she had repeatedly left her shoes by the fireplace. He said,

“Katherine comes over with Lyla and she says, ‘Lyla, I told you already not to put the shoes there. Keep your shoes on or you put them away, but you don’t leave them there by the stand in front of the fireplace because you know what Daddy did? When I left my shoes there twice? The third time, he burned them in front of me and I cried.'”

Arnold Schwarzenegger mentioned that his daughter now uses the same techniques that she rebelled against as a kid and values such as keeping their house clean and arranging things in the proper order.
