While a second season is yet to be greenlit, a recent report revealed that the Percy Jackson writer’s room was opened and that they were making great progress. The Disney Plus show Percy Jackson and the Olympians was the second iteration of the popular young-adult fantasy fiction franchise. Chris Columbus’ Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief starred Logan Lerman, Brandon T Jackson, and Alexandra Daddario in lead roles and was largely panned for deviating from the source material. The sequel, Sea of Monsters, wrapped up the entire series of five books in a single film, thus ending the franchise.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri were announced as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood respectively. The show premiered on December 19, 2023.

While the Disney Plus series Percy Jackson and the Olympians received positive responses for its writing and the chemistry of the lead trio, many fans seem to have an issue with the tone of acting in the entire series in general. The acting in the show has been termed as ‘cheesy’ and ‘dramatic’, despite the trio of Percy, Grover, and Annabeth receiving good reviews.

Many of the criticisms were directed at the supporting actors in the show such as the actors playing Dionysus and Chiron. Even some instances with the leading children were criticized, with some terming the writing lacking flair. The Reddit thread about the show brought up multiple issues with the acting in the series. With season 2 on the horizon, fans on X (formerly Twitter) seemed to demand improvement in the skills of the actors.
