Netflix’s One Piece Live Action series has been a life-changing opportunity for its cast members. Apart from all the applause and positive reviews, the people also loved the characters who portrayed the Strawhats. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, watched every single audition tape to determine who would fit the description of his characters.

Out of the whole One Piece Live Action cast, only a few people have managed to meet Eiichiro Oda personally. Emily Rudd, who plays Nami in the live-action, falls into that list. She has a lot of Nami characteristics in real life, too. Even though she considers herself to be an otaku, it is not One Piece, that she first fell in love with.

She has watched several anime including Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. Emily Rudd even went to see Spirited Away in the theatres when it was released in the USA. Even though Emily Rudd, grew up on these anime, none of them her obsessed. Sailor Moon is the only anime that made her obsessed with it.

Emily Rudd was so into Sailor Moon that she made her parents rent the Sailor Moon movie every time. It made her parents sick of it. During an interview with Netflix Geeked, she said, “I made my parents rent the Sailor Moon movie all the time and they were so sick of it, but I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Women are so cool and so powerful and they can do anything.”

She continued,” It also just really solidified anime in my life.” Thus, it can be seen how big of an otaku Emily Rudd is. She fantasized about Sailor Moon and thought about powerful and cool women. Now, she has become one of those powerful and cool women after landing the role of Nami in One Piece.
