In Marvel Comics, one of the most significant and iconic teams is that of the Fantastic Four. There is little to no doubt about how the same could easily become the case for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. However, it would seem that there were many renowned actors who tried out for the role of Richards, some of whom fans think to be better than Pascal.

Pedro Pascal was Not Alone to Audition for Mister Fantastic

It was recently revealed that Mister Fantastic would be played by none other than Pedro Pascal. The actor has always been one in the spotlight, especially since he played the role of Joel in The Last of Us. His skills as an actor are one that can easily awe an entire audience without a problem. However, he was not alone in trying out for the role either. Before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes took place, Jake Gyllenhaal and Adam Driver were both solid contenders for the role as well.

They were not the only ones. According to The InSneider, Christopher Abbott and Jamie Dornan both tried out for the role of Reed Richards. It was also reported that their auditions did not go very well, at least, not as great as that of Pedro Pascal’s. The idea of bringing diversity into the cast is not very far-fetched per se, but it is one that is contradictory to Reed Richards as a character. His race, with necessity, played a part in who he was as a character.

Fans Wished to See Jamie Dornan Instead

It was Reed Richards’ savior complex, prioritizing the world over anything else and what came from then on that became an integral part of his character. However, casting an actor who does not fit the category, and is unable to highlight the savior complex of Mister Fantastic, could nullify not only his personality but also his morals of Richards.

Fans have since been demanding to see actors such as Jamie Dornan and Christopher Abbott take on the role instead. They have been constantly going about how although Pedro Pascal is not a bad actor, perhaps even better than the other two; he is not physically ideal to play the character.
