The gaming industry is evolving and adapting to the demands of today’s time and while others are afraid of change, Microsoft embraces it with open arms. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be the first to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 since it is confirmed that the game will drop on day one while players on the rival platform will have to wait a little longer than most.

Not everyone is ready to transition to this new digital age of gaming where players can subscribe to a service and gain access to countless games without ever paying for them fully. There is no shortage of pros and cons for this ambitious structure; however, the benefits are greatly overlooked and Microsoft wanted to remind the gaming community of the convenience.

The Xbox player base felt betrayed by Phil Spencer after he repeatedly stated that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would not be ported to the PlayStation 5. This year’s Gamescom was used to reveal the game’s official release date for Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, and PC but it also confirmed the game will drop on the rival platform a few months later.

Despite the fact Spencer went back on his word, the Xbox player base will still be ahead and can play the game with no issue and the convenience of Game Pass. Hopefully, these games will run smoothly on day one without encountering any hiccups that could ruin the player experience.

Adding this year’s Call of Duty to the subscription service on launch day has always been Phil Spencer’s mission. Spencer believed it was the right move to provide easy access for the gaming community bolstering the numbers and gaining more coverage for the Xbox platform.

Cliff Bleszinski was involved in the early Gears of War games for the Xbox platform and is convinced Spencer wants to pioneer streaming video games for this console generation. The traditional video game distribution is slowly dying and phased out with a new era of digital services and Spencer wants to be ahead of the race.

Game Pass subscribers are fortunate to gain access to these high-quality games and these titles could convince more to follow suit. Innovation and change will never go away, especially nowadays when everything is moving at an unprecedented rate.

Spencer is betting all his chips on Xbox Game Pass and the gaming community is satisfied with this program. Perhaps this is the future of gaming after all.
