Xbox is on a roll when it comes to their services and their commitment to putting out games day and date for subscribers. Since the Xbox 360 era, gamers across the world have spent an insane amount of hours on any Call of Duty game, especially on multiplayer which forged all-nighters, sweats, and insane lobbies. Phil Spencer hopes to bring these titles on their live service: Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Call of Duty went through countless hands which helped shape what it is today, a first-person shooter all the way back from 2000, and each time a new developer took the helm of the franchise it always stood out and drew more attention from the industry and increased in content. Yearly releases has been a trend for the series but Microsoft has yet to announce this year’s entry.

It is clear that Spencer holds this franchise in such high regard, that prioritizing these titles and putting them on Game Pass will definitely ensure an increase in active users, even taking the time to take a look back at classic games for nostalgia’s sake. Also, these games have aged quite well and fans still adore the core game which is taking on the role of a soldier, shooting enemies, and progressing the story.

Players are in for the thrill and adrenaline which is what Call of Duty is about, and being able to boot up the latest installment, or any game for that matter will benefit Activision Blizzard. The core focus of the franchise has always been giving the players an accurate depiction of combat and teamwork but never advocated for violence at all. Seeing the response will boost the morale of developers and make better stories as they recover from the heavily criticized short campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The future of the franchise may be in an uncertain route at the moment but once Microsoft has devised a solution to utilize their well-known franchises. Combine it with Game Pass as fast as possible to even out players on rival consoles. Players want the convenience to boot up and get in the game, an intrinsic return of stats of how well Xbox will be doing once this vision becomes fully realized and implemented.

The direction of the franchise is as they also put out their own take with the battle royale formula with Call of Duty: Warzone which is available on pretty much every platform which is a good move given that the industry is dominated by live service games.

The fork on the road is that Activision Blizzard can go on a route where they focus primarily on multiplayer or add more effort for single-player content, and regardless of that, it is evident Microsoft fully supports them all the way.

Are you looking forward to Call of Duty being added to Xbox Game Pass on day one?
