Kelly Reilly’s Opinion on Jamie Dutton

Kelly Reilly once argued that one of the most hated characters in the show, Jamie Dutton was often misunderstood. “They’re so filled with pain, so they’re pretty brutal,” she continued. “It’s hard to talk about it honestly, because when I’m playing her I’m full in… and then I watch it and I don’t even remember doing some of the scenes. I feel really bad for Jamie sometimes.”

She explained that when she is acting, she is giving her everything without a doubt. However, she never really went back to those scenes. Reilly claimed that her memory of some scenes is faint, posing as a sort of barrier for her to be unable to hate Jamie. In turn, she actually felt sorry for him.

Kelly Reilly Might Not be Wrong

Beth’s hatred for Jamie is more than justified. His character is portrayed as one who is meant to be hated because of his attitude and arrogance. However, for Beth it is personal. Jamie is the reason as to why she is infertile. Her hatred for him is rooted in every cell of her body and is justified to be so. Despite it all, Reilly cannot get herself to hate the character. What she feels for him is more pity than anything else.
